The issue is he got a third and a 7 for something that we would have had to give up a first for if Murray stayed healthy but just played how he did in every month but November
If he’s healthy he’s a decent option with pedigree. If he’s not healthy he’s irrelevant to the cap. Seems like a free dice roll to me

He was an .880 goalie for 3 months before the injury and was getting worse. so yeah we would be
No he wouldn't be.

Also, we didn't have to trade any pick. LTIR. Why talking about something that you think would happen? It wouldn't. I'm right and your wrong even tho none of us know.

As I’ve said all along LTIR is the gold standard for the team and player.
Remember when we discussed the previous year of placing him on LTIR immediately upon acquiring him? :)

People didn't like the idea last year, but now it seems the majority are onboard this year. :wg:

We would have likely had a #1 goalie + a 3rd + a 7th if he stayed healthy... what kind of logic is this? When he was healthy and got rolling he was good, the same as in Ottawa the year before.

Having issues reading I see

If he stayed healthy this year we would be off loading him for a first. That's what happens when you play terrible hockey on a massive cap hit.

He was good in November. Mediocre to below avg in December and AHL level every other month

FYI ..

That 3rd is long gone as it was dealt along with a 1st, 2nd and 4th to rent Ryan O'Reilly for 11 playoff games.

Leafs only have the 7th round pick in 2024 left to show for that.

He hasn't played good hockey for 4 years dude. It's the same reason why only two teams wanted him last off season

Pretty easy to tell what was going to happen when it was pretty well speculated prior to this ltir announcement. It was either going to be a buyout or massive package to offload him. In part because he's often injured but also because when not injured he hasn't been a good goalie since pre covid

Wrap him up again and put him on the self.

Yeah, it was pretty easy it was gonna be LTIR and not a first round pick+

Well that is very convenient
This is essentially the potential fallout we have been hearing about recently of Murray blocking a buyout claiming, he is not healthy now so as per CBA you can't buy out and injured player.

Murray now guaranteed he gets his full ridiculous $8 mil salary, whereas a buyout at 2/3rds rate would have costed him over $2 mil in lost wages.

So Leafs are playing the game, if you're injured now preventing a buyout then you're also going on LTIR to start the year, and not going to be healthy in a few months to start the season.

Once on LTIR, "Don't call us we'll call you" :wg:
