He singlehandedly(Jake helped needlessly) lost Canada the tourney. He looked scared of the puck and is overall just awful
So this was the kid that was way better than Mason McDonald was it? Mason should have been the starter today. Blackwood is garbage.

Yep, he was terribly bad. At this point, I would have put Montembeault between the pipes. The only goalie who did well when used.

His style leaves big holes for shooters to pick from. He has low intensity which causes him to be behind the play. He follows the puck poorly. He has no feel for when to try to calm things down. Zero puck playing ability. He tries to overcompensate for holes in his stance but sacrifices opening up one bigger to close another. He overcompensates his being behind the play with too strong of pushes that put him further out of position. Because of this, he loads his legs up to much and leaves his five hole open. I could go on but I think I made my point; he is not a good goalie and I don't think that because of a couple extra bad goals.

Two of them were really bad and another two of them were shots that he absolutely could have saved. I catch a lot of him in the OHL, so I know he's clearly more talented than he showed, but you can't really defend his performance today. He's one of the top-three reasons Canada lost (Blackwood, Virtanen, Lowry).

Terrible game but a lot of you guys don't watch him regularly. There's a reason people were proclaiming him Canada's savior pre-tournament. Give the dude a break.
It really is embarrassing how adults act after losing a tournament for kids. They are 17, 18, 19 year old kids. The amount of pressure put on the Canadian team is ridiculous. Give the kid a break. He didn't play great but the whole Canadian team struggled. It just wasn't that strong of a team. Who cares? Move on and enjoy watching some of the best prospects in the next few games. And how about some of you actually watch Blackwood on a consistent basis in Barrie before writing him off so quickly

I still think he's the second best goalie in the 2015 draft. Some players have very good WJC's, some have very bad WJC's. Blackwood is still a talented goalie who has performed well in the OHL, considerably better than the others at this tournament that play in the CHL.
Stop over reacting he'll be fine, the world juniors is a tournament for Canadians to show their true colours.

guess everyone is stupid for picking him in the draft and bringing him to TC, how could they not see this kid has not a single ounce of talent anywhere in his game

He was horrible today... but let's not pretend Canada had a gold medal worthy team even with solid goaltending.
If I remember correctly Cory Schneider had a really bad WJC too and look at him now. Blackwood was clearly nervous, should have been pulled after the third goal. Really terrible coaching by Lowry.

I'm not gonna put him in the doghouse. He has pretty darn good physical tools, I just hope he maintains his mental strength. He sure was nervous this tournament but maybe this is a learning experience for the guy.

Don't expect lenience on a guy who played terribly in the QF. He shouldn't have started the 3rd, I don't put that on him. It's the junior stage, where momentum takes hold, kids get nervous, lose their focus etc.

Sooo, seems like Blackwood's career isn't toast after a poor WJC like many pundits here thought it was. Continues to lead the OHL in save percentage with a couple of games left
