I mean, Sorokin doesn’t have near the value of Kaprizov, but I understand. The rationale is that it would only happen if Sorokin wouldn’t sign there

This would make more sense if he was eligible to be a UFA at some point but he's not. Technically all they'd be losing is a 3rd round draft pick they didn't sign that couldn't sign with anyone else on this continent.

Nice to see Ilya personally shoot down the rumor anyway.

Isles Goalies split their games. I am not sure if Friedman knows this if he thinks Sorokin doesn't see a path to the NHL with Long Island. I am calling bull on his sources.

Going with this guy. Sorokin will be splitting the net with Varly next year. If not, The Isles will get a valuable asset back if contract talks are stalled. This is more likely IMO. Not playing time.

Exactly. Sounded right away like Friedman was deliberately or as a "useful idiot" spreading false rumours.
 
Hopefully Sorokin ends up with the Islanders, Korn/Greco/Trotz/Varlamov is a really good situation for a Russian goalie to transition to the NHL (if that’s indeed what he wants to do).
