He was named the starting goalie today by the coach. Not playing tonight, so we'll likely lose. He supposedly didn't play today because he has a minor ankle injury after a collision in the last game with Copp. He'll play tomorrow, unless the injury keeps him out another game.

Ahhh, there may be this guy named Sorokin who may have something to say about this next year...
Shesterkin is better than Sorokin imo. Sorokin's style is heavily dependent on his extreme athleticism which may or may not work depending on the team in front of him. To me, the Islanders are the perfect team for Sorokin to go to. So if Sorokin's smart, he should sign there.

Whereas Sherterkin is picture perfect technically and has the mental makeup of an elite goaltender. It's nuts how relaxed he is when the play is right in front of him. He would have success under any kind of hockey system, which is he, because the Rangers play a terrible defensive system.

Kid was unbelievable last night against the Canes. I would not be shocked when this guy wins multiple Vezina Trophies.

All I have to say is you Rangers fans are so lucky to go from Lundqvist to Shesterkin. Not looking forward to the continued dominance the Rangers have over the Canes.

In 9 games, he is already at 5.85 GSAx which is good for 7th in the league. Fingers crossed because it can go down just as easily but he could be leading the league by the end of the season if he plays half as well has he's been playing.

He also has the second highest Goals Saved Above expected already at 7.72, and thats through 10 games. Small sample and all, but those numbers usually only go up as you play more games if you are an elite goalie, not down. First place is at 9.15, and he's played 41 games less than that player. Vezina candidates like Rask and Bishop are already below him in that stat, and have played way more games. His numbers in this category are 4X as good as first place Hellebuyck on a per-game basis.

I doubt it continues at that pace, but what he's doing to start his career is historic. 9 wins out of 10, .940 SV%, first player in NHL history to not have lower than a .900 SV% through his first nine games (streak is now at 10), 4 40+ SV wins already out of 10 games.
