I think the road is long and windy, and you will need some insane luck to fall your way. But first you must head the right direction.

I believe we all feel the previous regime under Dean Lombardi, their success was not only beyond many of ours' wildest dreams, we also feel His way is now the Kings' way and we would like to emulate this in order to duplicate that recent past success.

Looking at 2009, we had a bunch of nice young forwards. I would say our prospect pool was even deeper now than then, although we don't have the Drew Doughty. And no one yet has emerged to be our Kopitar...plus we don't know if Petersen will become our Quick. But our overall defensive depth is no where near as bad as 2008 when DL had to spend all the early picks on defensemen.

Normally, we like to have a lot of leadership on our team. One thing we prided the 2012 on that DL built was the number of potential Cs and As we got from other teams and added on to our team as glue guys. Of all the things that Danault brings, that's one of the things I think he brings. Edler is no Mitchell so I don't count him. But Arvidsson certainly brings some. So we took a BIG step forward on that. Hopefully once some of these other overpaid, old Kings fall off the books, we can poach some more 24-28 YOs with significant NHL experience from other teams too stupid to retain them.

So we're on our way. But I feel like this is our 2010/11 season.

If all it takes is drafting top-2, top-5, top-10 for years …

… Oilers, Sabers, Devils, Rangers would all be the schnitzel by now.

But the reality is quite different.

The team that traded all but three of their first round picks won B2B cups, and it wasn’t even close.

Building a powerhouse franchise is all about the leadership at the helm, not when and how you stock the cupboard.

We didn't leadership a a Stanley Cup.
We had a very talented defense first team, with a 2nd line where all players scored around 30 goals
You still need to put a puck into a net and i have never seen someone leadershipping or locker rooming a puck into the net
