Not feeling too bleak. Team has the chance to prune some of the rottenness and hopefully utilize the cap space. Rielly might be the only really bad contact by next year and hopefully he rebounds a bit. Nylander is fine. Matthews is one year past a 69 goal and another year past an mvp. He will rebound; his regular season was awful as well, somethings wrong.
How about now
Based on what's available in free agency, there's about a 90% chance the result is worse. Keep in mind that in terms of forwards, we are releasing the #1 and #3 ranked free agents. And #6 is a 37-year-old Brad Marchand, who may or may not have anything left in the tank after this year. They have almost 30 million in cap space rework the forwards and that's without trades
everything is bleak
