I like Braeden Cootes on Seattle. He looks like guy that should be fighting for a top 10 spot (and that is me being conservative), but Bob has him 22.

Not sure how it would work... The Sens will have list... if someone they've ranked higher drops to them.. and they really like him make the pick, otherwise announce its going to Vegas; This could be a strategy, however the reliance on the scouting staff making that assessment is a big concern

I'm happy the Flames are playing good enough to not be a lotto team. If they were tanking they'd have a shot at Misa and Parekh playing together in the NHL. OHL chemistry to the NHL could make those two beasts

The pick would be lost; it does not transfer to Vegas.

I think Staios will take the advice of his scouts and then develop his own assessments of the top first round prospects during the season, so I don't think concerns with amateur draft scouts will be major (if they were, he should have already replaced his scouts). Staios will likely have identified his priority requirements for drafting players (most important skills for example) and developed the final list. I agree with how it would play out: "if someone they've ranked higher drops to them.. and they really like him" and they think that prospect will be equal to or better than what they might get at the next draft, they will make the pick. Otherwise, they might surrender the pick and hope for a better pick in 2026. Or perhaps make a trade if a skilled player is offered.

They can't know whether a highly ranked player will drop to them.

They have to decide whether to forfeit the pick or not within 24 hours of the results of the draft lottery.

Sens will be in this range ; If we could snag Desnoyers (if we miss the playoffs) I would keep the pick.

Lakovic probably should interest them
Amico will interest them

I don't mind Hensler either.

I would not trade the pick yet.. I'd lean towards drafting a player we want or giving up the pick to LVGK i

Desnoyers at 14 is out there imo. He’s more likely to go top 5 than to fall to 14. Future captain, all-around type of player that GMs salivate over.

Kashawn Aitcheson is probably really high on the Sens board. He checks every box for them - high end athlete, serious mean streak, monster hitter, best fighter in the draft, and pretty skilled too. Some concerns about his defensive reads/IQ. Having a really strong second half of the season.

When they're debating whether to forfeit the pick, this is probably the guy they worry about missing out on.
