NHL Entry Draft Future Draft Watch

These two have Jake O'Brien in the top 10, no chance Ott gets him if this is the case. It seems this draft is one of those where anything can happen at any time with really only the 1st OA most likely being predicted correctly. It seems both these guys have Ott taking Malcolm Spence LW.

I'm happy the Flames are playing good enough to not be a lotto team. If they were tanking they'd have a shot at Misa and Parekh playing together in the NHL. OHL chemistry to the NHL could make those two beasts
Isn't Calgary pick owned by MTL while they own NJ and Florida's?

Kashawn Aitcheson is probably really high on the Sens board. He checks every box for them - high end athlete, serious mean streak, monster hitter, best fighter in the draft, and pretty skilled too. Some concerns about his defensive reads/IQ. Having a really strong second half of the season.

When they're debating whether to forfeit the pick, this is probably the guy they worry about missing out on.

The dynamic with the pick will be interesting because the NHL wasn't even courteous enough to give them the chance to see who is on the board like teams are usually able to do with protected picks (the Tkachuk pick for example).

They must forfeit the pick within 24 hours of the draft lottery.

I think it's a catch-22, because if we're bad enough to end up with a top 16 pick then I think we're probably looking at a very serious re-tool with some big names moving, which may result in us getting back into the first round even with giving up our own first round pick.

We're 100% picking him or Brady Martin if we keep the pick.

Martin has been dominating recently and is very physical two-way center. Might go top 10 though.

Personally I'd rather we give up the pick, even if we miss the playoffs, than take Aitcheson.

We don't need another defenseman, we need forwards.

We didn't need another left-handed defensive D last year but it didn't stop the Sens scouts from wasting a high 2nd on Eliasson.

Timmy is our only speedy forward in our top 9. We are severely lacking speed throughout the lineup to threaten dmen and it’s painfully obvious

Hopefully it’s a point of emphasis moving forwards at the draft

what would be worse ... thowing a 2nd at a TDL deal to beef up the bottom 6 for someone like Nyquist or Drafting another project like Eliasson or Roger?

Would ideally like to get a skilled forward, it's desperately, desperately needed in the pipeline.

Have only seen Q games live, there isn't much in the way of possibilities for the Sens 1st, but there are a couple of guys I wouldn't mind the Sens grabbing.

I love Desnoyers, LOVE, him, but there is little to no chance of having a shot at him.

I really like Carbonneau, he's probably the guy I'M (not the Sens) zoning in on. He should be in the Sens wheelhouse, should they keep the pick, in the 14-20 range. Fantastic shot, fantastic hands and puck skills, great skating, and is a dog on the ice.

Zonnen is a guy I'd look very hard at grabbing in the 2nd. Big body, skilled, smart and plays with the same kind of f*** you attitude that Grieg does. He was wing when watching him the past 2 years, but he made a very nice transition to center this season.

I'd take a late round flyer on Carbonneau's teammate in Vincent Desjardin as well, has some great vision and extremely strong defensively, but isn't a very big kid.

Misa had a foolish goal today showcasing his skating, skills and release. Absolutely elite skillset

He’s running away with 1st, or should be.

When was the last time our scouts drafted a guy like that
He could still be there when when Ott comes up to make there draft. I expect they have seen him & scouted him when they have gone out to see how Yak is doing. He would be a decent Giroux replacement as well, although on the small side he does have a non-stop motor & is clearly very skilled.

If we're not finishing bottom 10, we should just forfeit the pick. The last thing the Sens need in 2026 is a distraction of possibly finishing low enough for McKenna, but not having a pick. Especially, when you factor possible injuries. And if the Sens somehow become one of the better teams, 2026 has a trade chip is more valuable than 2025 anyways.

We have passed on small non stop motor and clearly very skilled players non stop for the past several years

You think Kindel makes it into the top 10? Not that long ago he was in the 2nd rd, what a difference a couple of mths make. I think there are several players who could be available around the 17th mark give or take that could help the Sens in future. I'm against losing that 1st rd asset until the last second, you never know what could happen & why not grab a decent player if they fall to you rather than give it up & hope something better comes around next yr. Hope is not a strategy.

We have but we have also drafted a few, Crookshank & Abramov come to mind.

We drafted Ostapchuk before stankovem and Ben Roger right after him. Now you’ll say “lots of people passed on stankoven” but point is there is a philosophical reason we don’t take those player.

If we wanted this thread to be about who our scouts would draft vs some of the interesting players eligible to be drafted it would get really boring really fast

We didn't draft Abramov. Came over from Columbus in the Duchene deal. Another Dorion masterpiece.

I feel like you're just testing/f***ing with us.

Sens scouting philosophy is just so freaking boring, "safe" two way future third liners, triple digits PIM boneheads and bottom-pair calibre defensemen.

We 100% should draft a guy like Kindel but we won't because our scouts haven't learned their lesson not to skimp on hockey IQ for the past decade or so.

Abramov was a throw in on a bad trade.

Crookshank is an exception it appears but he was also a late round lottery ticket

The comments are from different sources
17 Prokhorov 17 y/o 6.6 209 Left shot RW playing MHL

18 Lakovic 18 y/o 6'4 190 Left shot F playing WHL
Lakovic demonstrates high-end puck-handling skills for a power forward, maintaining control through traffic and executing quick moves in tight spaces. His scoring touch is evident in his ability to finish around the net, often utilizing a quick release or deceptively changing the angle as he shoots.
19 Martin 17 y/o 6' 174 Right shot C playing OHL
Brady Martin is a two-way center with a strong physical game and a consistent offensive skill set. His high compete level, hockey IQ, and versatility make him an appealing prospect for NHL teams seeking a 200′ prospect who will positively impact the game in all three zones.
22 Hensler 18 y/o 6'2 196 RD USNTDP
Logan Hensler, a 2006-born, 6'2" right-shot defenseman from Woodbury, Minnesota, is a highly touted prospect for the 2025 NHL Draft, known for his skating, physicality, and passing ability, with scouts projecting him as a potential top-four NHL defenseman.
23 Brzustewicz 18 y/o 6'1 194 RD OHL (October Birthday)
Hunter Brzustewicz is a right-handed defenseman who is considered a valuable prospect for the NHL. Scouts say he has a lot of potential but needs to improve his defensive game
28 Fiddler 17 y/o 6'4 209 RD WHL (July Birthday)
Blake Fiddler projects as a top-four, two-way defenseman at the NHL level, with potential to excel in a shutdown role. His size, skating, and defensive instincts are valuable assets, particularly on the penalty kill and in defensive assignments.
6'4 RD top 4 2 way D with shut down role potential; we could use that. I'll be surprised if he lasts till 28 but should be there in our range

At F I like Martin.. I have not seen Lakovic or Prokhorov; At Rd Hensler or Fiddler ...I like both..

Who’s this years PIM King?

Curious, what position would this year's Sens first round need to be for you to consider forfeiting this year's pick instead of next?

From the chatter I've heard, next year's draft is significantly better, so if the Sens were draft anywhere in the 20s I think I might forfeit this year.

Thoughts?

I would consider it at 17 +

This year the Sens have the following picks
1st
3rd (Tarasenko trade)
5th
6th
7th

It would be a slim pickings draft especially of they give up the 1st.

They may try to push the pebble down the road hoping the NHL reconsiders the 1st round pick penalty ..
