He lead his team to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals and they lost by 1 goal and he won playoff MVP. That sounds like pretty good leading in my books.

Idk. Maybe thinking that they actually were trying really hard, simply aren't as good as he is, and don't really appreciate getting yelled and cussed at for it.

That's possible, or they could also be timid and lifeless when it matters most. Hopefully I'm wrong cause I like the Oilers but that wasn't the best thing to see.

What is the appropriate response?

To rally around your captain and arguably a top 3 to 5 player all time when he's done to win a cup.
