Mcmann and Robertson the last 2 games have been there best , especially Robertson.

Robertson is ready to break out

Robertson hasn't done much offensively so far and has faced tons of criticism but he leads the team in penalties drawn with 7.

Not the most exciting game, HOLY SHIT was it not the most exciting game.

But what it was, was another solid effort by the team last night.

Stolarz wasn't spectacular, he didn't need to be.

BUT when they DID need a big save with under 5 minutes to go he provided it and he's been providing it from day 1.

Anthony Stolarz has been what I have been SCREAMING about for years.

The difference between him and Samsonov, or him and Campbell so far is night and day.

If Woll can stay healthy and get back to his level that he's shown in the past the team is in really good shape in net.

feels like Robertson is a high-end sniper who is missing that one crucial skill. That thing where scorers read the flow of the game and always seem to end up in the right spot. Probably Matthews best talent actually. Meanwhile Robertson ends up looking discombobulated like every single shift. Like he's constantly fighting the game.

Solid win.

Loved seeing Nylander drive the net on the first goal even tho all credit on the play was given to Marner and it was a great entrance from Marner.

I still think we need more from the bottom six but then again lines changed with 34 injury.

The biggest difference this is year is goaltending.

I hope Woll is healthy and puts in a solid game tonight against the Habs

Would like Mitch on his line. If they can get production from him, that will help spread the wealth

It’s clear as day that Marner and Matthews are both better driving their own lines. The team is better for it. We have one line set with Patches-JT-Willy. Can we figure the rest out, or at least try something else?

Marner and Matthews become too predictable together and almost lose some urgency. With the special teams we should still be able to get everyone their ice time and roll 5 on 5. I really hope we can at least try splitting them up and see what it looks like for a few games. Players need to sacrifice to win championships and if it works we’re a much deeper team.

Was at the game yesterday - McMann and Holmberg were amazing specifically on the cycle. Robertson's work ethic was unbelievable. Thought Tavares looked good too.

Would love to see that line get some momentum

Good win, play in the right direction. Third line played well, even if it didn’t get rewarded. The PP is on fire now, but 5v5 has gone cold. One game at a time here, I’d just like to see that type of effort, and play on a consistent effort before believing this is a serious team. Put away the Habs tonight, and don’t even let them pretend they are in a game.

People call it boring, but I like this hockey alot more than Keefe hockey. I do not miss that cute, careless hockey. That was shinny, not hockey.
I think the height of that style was the end of last season when they were trying to get their cookies.

It was the worst experience if you think shinny is not a good way to win hockey games.

We are a product of Stolarz right now. That is not a good feeling at all. All I am hoping is that he is legit and can endure a full season of being relied upon because what I am seeing from this team on its own, its fools gold. Good elements but not complete.

Stolarz will regress at some point for sure, he won't keep up a .960% or whatever it is right now. He's playing without any holes in his game where typically we're accustomed to a goaltender that lets in soft goals here and there, or almost every game, sometimes multiple times. But in terms of shots, chances and overall defensive play, the Leafs have done a good job around him. This isn't a goaltender completely standing on his head as the only pillar winning us games.

Stylistically I don't see a huge change between him and Campbell. Campbell had superb streteches of games for us too. I think you're discounting how good Campbell was for much of his time here.

Obviously his style is considerably different then Samsonov.

They need to fix these lines, the offence is still underwhelming. 34/16 don't need to be together, Matthews and Domi were great when Marner was out, wingers like McMann/Domi/Robertson aren't plugs but they need to play with one of the big boys to spark their game. Domi needs to move back to the wing, they really need a 2b/3a center to round out, Gourde would be perfect but how do clear out 5M in cap and what do you give up for a rental, they may need to part with a high draft pick.

I would understand that narrative if we were getting dominated and Stolarz was stopping everything but like you said, our advanced stats show that we're actually playing pretty sound hockey.

One stat I would love to see is odd man rushes against.

I know controlled zone entries were much more popular than dump -ins but one advantage to dumping pucks in versus controlled zone entries, is that you don't turn the puck over at the blueline as much leading to odd man rushes against.

Then that would suggest Woll and everything else is trash. That's also not a very good thing.

I will keep watching but I think we have problems in front of Stolarz to worry about.

Marner has been the best Leaf tonight.

More evidence that they need to split Matthews and Marner up. For the 10000th time now
💯 there is plenty of talent for 3 balanced lines. We need this for scoring depth in the playoffs.

You’re just too used to our crap goaltending lol. Good teams have quality and timely goaltending come through. Can’t argue the team has been playing well in front of him. He is making big saves but most of the time they are keeping the high chance opportunities to a minimum.

If people think this is only goaltending, they aren't watching. This teams plays far more composed and structured hockey than it played under Keefe. It's not even close.

So everytime a goaltender is on fire that means the team isn't doing well? It can mean a lot of different things. The shots, chances and just watching them play, I don't think they have played bad at all.

Woll played really well his last game, but he's also bouncing back from an injury.
