Sinner takes the breaker for a straight set win, well-earned. I believe we have #1 and #2 in both men's and women's finals.
I can see Sinner winning in 3 sets, maybe even 4, but if it goes 5 I like Carlos' chances. I think there is still one tiny question mark about Sinner and I think that question has to do with endurance. Could be wrong but I would like to see the theory tested.Sinner in 5
Sabalenka in 2
It sounds like this is his last year. To paraphrase a Paul Bowles line from The Sheltering Sky, "He knows, he just doesn't yet know that he knows." I mean, if all that matters to him in tennis is chasing GSs, the evidence is pretty clear that now that he is not ranked #1 or #2, he will always risk having to face both Sinner and Alcaraz to get to the title. The high likelihood of that being a futile chase, I can't see him wanting to continue past this year. Get away from the game before your body really gets screwed up. Run for Prime Minister of Serbia or teach your kids drop volleys. As expected, sounds like this might be the end of Novak at RG. He can take on Carlos (Olympics, AO) but Sinner is just a terrible match-up at this stage for him.
Can't wait for the final.
