Pre-Game Talk: Freestyle Dance Lessons

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
We don't have another possible 4C. Kapenen and Ryan aren't it. Need to get him in to see if he's an option or not and get him some reps.

Not just getting a 4C was another needless and dumb decision by this management team. This hole could have been filled for a low draft pick, but instead we have to roll the dice between an undersized 100 year old, a shitty winger playing C, or a rookie with zero experience.
McDavid
Drai
Nuge
Henrique

Definitely an option, but I think it would require a few of the wingers to start playing like NHLers again for it to work. Kane and Frederic being back and effective is a start.
Or, and I know it's a wild idea, but just leave Jeff Skinner on McDavid's line for 10 games here and see if the former 40 goal scorer can make it work with the guy who had 100 assists last year.

I think you have to sink or swim with the guys you have. Arvidsson and Skinner just need to get it going for two months here. Run

Skinner - McDavid - Hyman
Perry - Drai - Arvidsson
Podkolzin - Nuge - Brown
Janmark - Henrique - Jones

Frederic probably takes the second line wing spot, Kane bumps someone out of the lineup, if you want a different look put Kapenen somewhere.

I just think you signed these guys, all that matters is success in the playoffs, let's get them going down the stretch and see if they rise to the challenge. The team isn't going to win anything if they don't get production from Skinner and Arvidsson, in my opinion.

I’d rather see Philp at C than Kapanen. Hell, at this point I’d consider Philp over Henrique. If you’re going to accomplish absolutely nothing, you might as well be a 6’3” RH shot who might still learn and improve while you do it.

In NHL 25 I had to utilize like 95% of the draft picks from now til 5 years in the future to make a team that actually made the Oilers win the presidents trophy.
Aint hard to trade for players using a pick or a few and if they work out, keep them, and if they don't work out, trade them for picks at the draft or at free agency.
So picks out but picks back in. Not sure what's so hard for all the GM's the Oilers had to figure it out. How many 1sts and 2nds and 3rds did we give up when if we waited a bit and used some lower round picks and idk made less 1 for 1 trades we could have built a team around McDavid by now. At least I think so.

So yeah we can't get anyone on the team either due to targets we wanted being GONE because we barely try offering anything outside of 1st, 2nds, and 3rds, and we will most certainly NOT ever trade a 5th or some 6ths together to get someone we really need. Cause think about how good those 5th round picks will be in 10 years! Might be another Noah Philip! That guy hockeys pretty good eh? Ugh the Oil fandom hyping him up like he's the second coming of Archibald was quite sad. Masking the facts at the time that we needed huge upgrades at C over the ancient Ryan who sucks. Sad!

whoa this is so stupid I literally just posted about the "Noah Philip is so good" crowd and how they think their favorite boy is going to be better than some "old useless vet". I really hope you work for the Oilers with trash talking like that!

I’ll have more thoughts on this as the stretch run continues, but at this rate I think Knob is gone in the summer. Not only his lineup decisions, but almost like he completely forgot how to coach. We’ve been a consistent 55% xgf team over the last 3-4 seasons, good for consistent top 3 in the league.

We’re currently in a stretch of 20 games, so a third of the season games right now where we’re around 50%, barely treading water, around the same as teams like Vancouver and Pittsburgh. This is with Mcdavid, Draisaitl, Ekholm and Bouchard on the team- 2 mvps and 2 legit top pair dmen. Woodcroft never had a stretch close to this bad, where we were consistently outplayed by bad teams or struggled to beat them in regulation. We lost talent this summer but we’re not Pittsburgh bad. All of Mcdavid, Hyman, RNH, Bouchard and Ekholm are having their worst season under this version of Knoblauch. I also want to emphasize that the things they’re doing tactically , ie the point shot strategy, are a big part of why they are having worse results offensively and controlling play.

Also, as every season has gone on the last few years the Oilers have gotten better, gelled more, their xgf% skyrocketed, and came down the stretch as one of the most dangerous teams in the league. We’re going the complete opposite direction this year, not just in results but in process as well. It almost feels like he’s coaching to get fired.

Too many players underperforming. That costs coaches their jobs.

I wouldn't say he is safe for this season if this continues.

He made game 7 and has 2x winning seasons.

Absolutely no way he's getting fired . Sheesh
