Perron is damaged goods after that concussion. He's not good at anything really. Produced zilch in the playoffs even with good ice time. Chronic underachiever.

I wouldn't have given up a 2nd round pick for Perron let alone a player and a pick. St. Louis wins this trade by acquiring the 2nd.

Considering Perron drives possession and scores at a relatively high rate, it would be quite silly to not even move a 2nd round pick for Perron.

Says who?
The Rangers wouldn't, any sane person wouldn't.

Proof?

Paajarvi is a pretty similar player to kreider and I'd assume the Blues would ask for him. Maybe one day Paajarvi or Kreider can be as good as Perron.

Perron is basically a Hagelin type with goal scoring instincts (although not as good of a skater, similar in terms of driving possession). I would trade Kreider for another Hagelin any day of the week.

Craig MacTavish said that the Oilers recently hired analytic guys loved Perron's advanced stats.

Aside from being big and fast, Kreider and MPS have little in common. They are very different players.

MPS is already a superior 2-way player, higher NHL point producer and has better passing ability. Kreider has better natural shot and may be the better goal scorer. I feel both lack the hockey sense to take the next step in their development, but we'll see how it goes.

has anybody suggested Brad Boyes? Very surprised he's still not signed...

it seems Sather and Gorton are content with pretty much the same team they had last year to do better under AV..

Sather stated before FA started that they want to leave openings for youth, which is fine because we had no $ anyway.

I still think we see a trade to either free up some space or bring in another scorer. I have to think that outside of Krieder and Miller, they are looking at hopefully McIlrath, Lindberg, or Fasth making the team. I think Kristo might have a shot as well. pretty exciting stuff with a new coach coming in as well.

With BR getting bought out next year and the cap going up i'm sure we'll land another top line C in FA....

Or maybe Gorton has been lowballing him until he everyone else is signed and he knows exactly how much money he has?

that was my thought. Also I think Zucc has value in a trade so if they can find a Boyle/Zucc for a better F option in the top 6 well go for it.

I dont really have a problem with that, as long as they are given a legit chance, though we have 23 players on the roster, someone has to move.

If the Rangers can resign Stepan and Zucc and trade one or two of Pyatt/Boyle/Asham/Powe and have about $1-2 million left, I think we should go after ex-ranger Radek Dvorak. He's still pretty fast, great defensively, and can still put up points (showing 4 goals with 9 games with Anaheim last season). We could still use some well needed depth so if the opportunity is right I'd say like a 1 year, $800k-$1mil contract. Thoughts on bringing him back?

We need to trade or bury Asham and Powe just to fit Step and Zucc in. I would then gladly trade away Pyatt, but not sure Dvorak would be the guy I replace him with. Boyle still has value as a 4th liner, pker and face off guy.

That's kind of what I said (or meant). If we can get rid of some cap from players like Asham and Powe then I say go for it. I think we could use him, but only if Step and Zucc are resigned and we have cap space for him.
