Guessing no contract with Zibanejad was reached, otherwise we'd have heard by now? 5:12pm. Assuming a file for arbitration, and negotiations will continue until that date.

I get the feeling they knew what Fast's contract would be around a week ago. I'm not sure why they announce some things faster than others.

They might get Sakic to bite on Hayes + a #1 for Duchane. They would need a center back and he has potential. He's cheaper then Duchane but put up close to 2C production.

if this ends up happening gorton would have cemented himself as the best offseasn a GM the rangers ever had

Chaykaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Anyone keep up with Etem last year? Why'd he only play 4 games? What was the injury? Never mind, knee injury.

I am legitimately curious if he can stick in this league. Vancouver was a mess the year he was traded there and AV completely misused Etem because of Tanner Glass and his "known quantity" ********...

I feel like Etem has some solid wheels, I can't see why he doesn't work

Worst case scenario with Etem is that he torches the AHL for you.

Should be going hard for Bozak right now. I didn't know how amazing he was at faceoffs, which Stepan and Brassard were garbage at, and his production is just as good if not better than both of them.

I was a big Etem fan... I think his current ceiling is a Pouliot type middle six winner. A guy with oodles of skill and shows flashes that really excite you, but they can't do it consistently and have no interest in playing defense above average.

I never saw Etem flash much skill when he was with the Rangers. Feels like his rep has been coasting on the talk he got when he was drafted.

Supposed to be fast but could never outrace anyone, always lost the puck in any puck battle, didn't have dangles, not a dangerous shooter. Meh.

Maybe he makes it with a team that plugs him into the lineup and leaves him there regardless of his performance until he "gets" it a bit, but I'm not sure why he seems to be a sore subject with some people. I guess just because of the Hagelin part.

I like Etem but AV was not Etem's issue. Etem has to sharpen his skating and puck skills. If I could speak to him I would encourage him to come in to camp in better shape than almost every player in the NHL. He could stick on a 4th line if he has a motor that will not turn off even if his skills stay the same. I will root for him.

I think its more because of who he was forced out in favor of.

He shouldn't have been booted to make room for Glass, but he was a horrible acquisition to begin with.

If I'm not mistaken, that takes him right into Unrestricted Free Agency, which is far from ideal.

It does.
Have no idea why they make this deal. They don't know where to put him in the lineup... if he plays well with Drouin and puts up good numbers he'll be able to walk away from Montreal and get a hefty raise at the ripe old age of 26... someone to keep an eye on.

Galchenyuk's contract isn't terrible, but it seems to really show that the Haps still don't know what they've really got with him. $4.9m isn't a bad price for him, and gives them 3 years with him, Drouin, Pac, Weber and Price, but if he continuous to develop they won't be able to afford him come the next contract
