Arbitrary measurement.

He was on pace for 30g, pro-rated, over the course of last season. All players have cold streaks otherwise they would all score 70g.

Our team is also superior offensively to that of NJ.

I don't want to say "hey let's sign another winger" but if we landed Cooke, Clarkson could easily pencil in on line 2 with Lupul and Kadri, with forward core looking:

JVR-Bozak*shudders*-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Clarkson
Cooke-Bolland-Kulemin
Orr-McClement-D'Amigo/Ashton etc.

The forwards are good. I really wanted Ference or Scuderi, not sure who to look for who might be of that caliber.

Our '3rd line' gets 2nd line minutes against the other teams best players and are still expected to be offensive threats.

Stop with the generic classifications that just don't apply here

Jason Blake scored 40 once too.
Tucker came dam close to 30 as well.

Clarkson had 1 good season and is getting paid heavily for it. The rest of his career he was a 3rd liner. 5 goals in his last 34 games.

I can at least say this, I would rather have Clarkson at $5.2M than overrated Weiss at $6M, if that's indeed what he will get.

he's gonna go hard to the net and get a lot of dirty goals.
kadri and lupul have the skill to get the puck to the net
clarkson has the skill to jam it in. He's also gonna protect kadri and
let him be able to play his game.
