GDT: Free Agent Frenzy Part II - Awful deals galore! (Clowe to NJ)

Agreed about the Clowe signing in NJ, it's crazy $$ especially for Lou and the Devils. However, before we talk, let's hope Sather doesn't sign Iginla for even crazier $$. I get a funny feeling Sather just can't contain himself on FA day...

He may have a good season or two if he can stay healthy, but that is a terrible contract. He would have had to be the key factor for the Rangers in winning the Stanley Cup and probably won the Conn Smythe for him to get that contract here. Awful awful deal!

I was very much in favor or buying out Richards. But the idea of Sather having cap space in this market is absolutely terrifying.

hes talented, and if it was say 3x3.5 id say it was a good deal, but a player with SERIOUS injury concerns, who is extremely slow, coming off of the worst season in his career....and you give him that deal?

IF it works out, great for them, right now, im not sure how anyone can consider this a good deal.
 
Ferraro calls out the Clowe deal as a bad signing and too long especially with Clowe lacking speed.

That's the silver lining in the dumb decision to hang on to Richards. We don't have enough cap space to sign anyone to a crazy money deal. Just about all the space we have left is earmarked for our RFAs.
 
When did the free agent market officially open? Tons of signings already - I thought it was today at 3?

Don't like the Clowe deal for the Devs, but our luck is he'll have no concussion issues at all for the next 4 years and average 20 goals per year. ****ing Devils.

Was hoping to keep Clowe on a 1 year deal, but f that, 5 years - no way lol
