Nathan Horton's deal with CBJ is 7 years, $37.1 ($5.3 AAV) but he gets $30M in first 5 years.

They are, just not at the extremes that were there before.

They are still allowed. It's just if Horton retires early, they will get a cap recapture penalty. The last 2 years pay him 7.1 mil. It's not that far below the AAV so not that big of a deal. And Horton is only 28. The only way he retires before 35 is due to injuries, and columbus can put him on IR every year instead of him retiring, a la philly and Pronger.

Clowe tells TSN teams were worried about his injuries, but NJD stepped up with the term (5 yrs). Gave him security.

Other teams obviously saw what we saw, but the Devils are in a pretty bad spot losing Clarkson. Desperately needed someone offensively.

Sad part of it, Rangers are going to remain middle of the pack (or lower)for quite some time. Can't wait to see how far this team falls when Henrik looks to get paid. Team is going to have to look to make a few trades, as compared to signing FA's
