to a rebuilding team trading away Namestnikov makes more sense. Namestnikov sure played like 4 million dollar player for the Rangers...

He can still be traded, it just won't happen until the trade deadline, next offseason or the following trade deadline. There's no rush.

have to imagine we're a part of the Komorov hold up after missing out on all of our targeted depth forwards.

Do we need depth forwards? I think we mostly did our due diligence on players we were interested in — if — we could get them on deals that really made sense.

They will have two trade deadlines to trade him and I’d say likelihood of him gone by 2020 trade deadline is very high.

Believe it or not, George isn't at home.

Patience Grasshopper. From what I understand there are several such options in work. I guess Gorton thought Armia was too small of a return.

I personally think Armia is one of the most overrated players in the league, zero interest in him...

Moreover, I'd assume the return is likely to be significantly higher at this deadline than dealing his RFA rights today if he continues to perform decently.

Yeah, he is too slow to contribute in the transition game. BUT, with a great center he could only play to his strengths.

I agree with your "but." I just thought the use of the word "terrible" before (not you, two other posters) was overstated. He lacks high end foot speed. That's his caveat.

Looking at the leafs, I'm more confused than before I looked. Horton counts now, but goes to LTIR when the season starts. $5.5m. Just over $6m in bonuses between last season's overages and obtainable this year. Nylander needs a deal. 11 forwards signed (counting Horton I believe), 6 D. 2 goalies. $13m in cap available.

They don't seem to be in dire straits but I feel like I'm missing something so someone please chime in. I know they need defense upgrades.

I want Zuccarello with retained salary and a defenseman for Nylander to work. Their pick, I don't care. I know they can do a million times better, so I'll accept it and not overpay.

I would seriously consider an offer sheet if TML was in a position to not match a reasonable deal.

He's much better as a W, which was obvious and actually more of a position of need for us right now. He's like Miller in that he can play C, but he's much better away from it.

Which not for nothing is the complete opposite of what everyone in Tampa said about him. He’s a center and was playing out of position on the wing.

He’s said it himself when he got here he’ll play anywhere but is much More comfortable at center.

AV said it as well not for nothing

Offer sheet compensation for up to $6.08m is a 1st and a 3rd. Then up to $8.11m is a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If Toronto manages to get a top pair D without trading Nylander, they are exposed. That return is a no brainer for me.
