The Rangers being nice to Namestnikov. He's a good player--but his play after the deadline was disappointing.
Yes I like it, and I`m happy that we started to sign some of our players. I was almost certain he was gone at the deadline, but very pleased that we continue to believe in him since he struggled end of last season, and no doubts about that with his finishing and adapt to AV system. That's a good deal for Names.
shorter term, slightly more money on a cap abundant team for a young talented player who should not be evaluated based on the worst 2 months of hockey structure and coaching of the decade.
Wouldn't be opposed to Duclair coming back on the surface, but like I've been saying, I just don't see the Rangers having interest in that. You don't want to add the wrong mix to the room in a rebuild. Adding a guy that dogged it and asked for a trade isn't exactly a great role model for kids battling for spots.
Gorton is hiring a bunch of nuns to beat the lefties into righties....
Gorton can't be finished yet, this organization is only one LHD short of a full roster!

$4M for Namestnikov to score 35 pts vs $5.5M for a 50+ point JTM.
Hmmmmmmmmmm
Maybe so---but I would have traded him. Some of it's about the team though. And if you want to bring Stamkos into this--Tampa has missed the playoffs a couple times in recent years but more often they're making long playoff runs. It's a team that could have won this year and could win next year. The player himself and I'm talking about Tavares here has voiced concerns in the past about just how serious the Islanders were about putting together a contender. That's a red flag and when you're battling to get into the playoffs and then you do almost nothing to improve the team at the deadline and when your team collapses that's another bad sign. I kind of expected Tavares would leave. Why not? Going back home to Toronto--a very good forward group---a steady goaltender. A great coach. Fans who will fill your building. Need to work on their D a bit but they could contend now in 18-19.
IMO Snow did not have a good take on his team nor a good take on where Tavares was.
Does it say anything that Namestnikov was the first of the RFA’s to be signed?
