Wtf Benning, Schmidt was the perfect Tanev replacement. Did he even make a phonecall to Vegas? Our defense would of been an improvement over last years D. You are so obsessed with aquiring Ekman-Larsson, when Jimbo should be obsessed with acquiring Nate Schmidt.

Interest in Vatanen..... Grrrrr I'm at a loss for words... damnit Benning.

I wonder how the fact that the European leagues are in full swing will effect the game of UFA musical chairs in the NHL. There are going to be good players still waiting for an offer in a week or two, that maybe would normally sign in the KHL, but the idea of doing a partial year contract with no training camp might push them to just suck it up and take a 1M/1 year offer or something like that to stay in NA. This is definitely the right year to show some patience

I am sure Canucks were not high on Vegas’s trade partner list. Interested to see what the deal was for Schmidt.

Sabres are built similarly to the canucks.

They should have been all over these $1-2 million guys to rebuild their bottom of the lineup.

Why would Vegas trade him to an opponent? He was always going east

I mean - yeah, the poor fans deserve something to get excited about. They’ve been a shambles for years. But a very odd choice from Hall.
I wonder how bad the long term offers were for him that he chose the show me option. Buffalo need to seriously rework the bottom of their roster.

Short of playing in Toronto, it’s about as close as he can get to home.

But yeah I expected a flashier destination, too. Philly or NYR or something.

1 years deal, too. It’s so upsetting to think what could have been if our cap had been managed even semi-competently.

Short season+Staal/Hall could see the sabres sneak into the playoffs. Atlantic just got a lot stronger in the past hour.

I will say, having a lottery pick will go a long way in the future when we’re up against the cap and actually contending.

Buffalo could retain and flip him for a huge return at the deadline

heck
Kind of bizarre. Wouldn't be surprised if Hall made a verbal agreement with them to be traded to a top team at the deadline (probably with salary retained) if they're out of a playoff spot.
