What ever happened with Jack Lafontaine… do we still own his rights and if so, when do we need to sign him by?

He is going back to Minnesota for another year. We retain his rights until August 2022. With 3 draft picks this year I get the sense our G room is crowded all of a sudden. Will be interesting if he signs with us or sees better opportunities elsewhere. These young goaltenders have to eye the Buffalo or Arizona G prospect pools and salivate.

I’m not sure if it’s still true (on mobile right now) but earlier today if you went to the roster page on the official Canes website, there were literally no goalies listed. It just said “goalies” with blank space underneath.

I just thought it felt like he and Columbus wanted to make sure his AAV was just above Jones. And I guess it might be an overpay but it makes sense for them. He's great and they need someone to stick with them like that. Plus, I know Detroit fans have been thinking they might get him and f*** those guys.
