Confirmed: 8 yrs, $66.2 for Giroux

8.275 cap hit

I could see Schenn and Couturier having breakout years and Holmer moving Giroux before the draft next season for more magical beans.

lol nvm, he got a full NMC. Smart Giroux.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 5m
An update on Giroux deal I tweeted about earlier today... It's finalized now: 8 years, $66.2 M _ $8.275 M AAV. Includes full NMC

Glad to see Asham and Powe on waivers.

Worried Sather does something stupid tomorrow, like signing more garbage for the bottom six.

Really hope to see a combination of Lindberg, Fast, Miller, Kristo, Boyle, Pyatt, Dorsett in the bottom six.

So we only have an hour left to buyout Richards? I'm hoping for a miracle.

Don't understand wanting to sign more centers? Miller is all but guaranteed to make the team, that gives them 5...

At a minimum if you are looking for more face off guys you need to be looking at guys who can play wing too.

After last year with Kreider, there are no guarantees. He should have been in the minors all season. Same with Miller.

Nystrom, Grabovski, Lapierre can all play wing. So can all the rangers centers.

With no Cally and no hags to start the year Miller will be on the team, how long he stays is a different question

I think this is mostly wishful thinking believing that Richards and brassard can be competent wingers. Don't think either have played it much in a long time

Grabovski was totally right about calling out Carlyle with his ********. Grabs got screwed over since Carlyle came on as coach for the Leafs and he has a right to be pissed when they're riding Tyler ****ing Bozak who is worse than Grabovski in every way

I thought Torts was harsh on Kreider at times last season. Maybe Kreider should've called him out. You know it's a good thing when players call out their coaches.

any chance the rangers pick up gerbe?

I hope not.

trading Del Zotto will make 2.9 next year and Boyle 1.8 next year...

rather give that 4.7 to Mikhail Grabovski and the other UFA

I'd beyond pissed if that happened.

Wow, if Boston can get Eriksson for Seguin that's an excellent return. Eriksson is very good.

Might be in minority here but I'd rather have Seguin than Eriksson. Hard to believe Seguin is only 21.

Bad fit. Clowe is like 6'2.

Brooks says Rangers have talked with Dom Moore about being 4th line center.

The Post has learned the Rangers have held discussions with fourth-line, checking-oriented center Dominic Moore, who is pondering a return to the league after sitting out last season after the death of his wife, Katie, who lost her two-year fight against a rare form of liver cancer on Jan. 7.

A source has confirmed Moore, who will turn 33 next month, had spoken extensively with the Rangers last year before the lockout and likely would have signed with the club if his wife’s medical condition had allowed.

Moore, who began his career with the Blueshirts in 2005-06 as the center of the HMO Line between Ryan Hollweg and Jed Ortmeyer, earned an average of $1.1 million his last three seasons. That’s a number the Blueshirts can accommodate.

Signing Moore would allow the Rangers to move Brian Boyle, whose $1.7 million cap hit is a bit pricey for a fourth-line center under prevailing conditions, to the wing to at least start the season — or out of town as part of a trade.

If the Rangers pass on Moore, the club could have interest in fourth-line center Maxim Lapierre, who filled the role as the defensive faceoff specialist in Vancouver last year for coach Alain Vigneault after Manny Malhotra went on long-term injury reserve with an eye injury.

Pyatt hate is resurfacing. I don't think Torts was adamant on getting the physicality out of Pyatt. He was content with his board work and some of his net front work. He used Pyatt to retrieve some pucks and not much else. AV and Pyatt worked together before, he had a good season under AV. Even though that's far removed from anything relevant to this team and their dynamic now, it's still something I see as a positive to retaining Pyatt.

He's not THAT slow.
He can be more physical.
He's okay net front, can be great.

He did score more goals than anyone else among the B6ers with 6G5A, 2G2A in the playoffs. He's shown in the past year that he's not a defensive liability.

The reason why he was signed wasn't used to the fullest last season in my opinion and even though he's not going to magically transform, going forward with Pyatt in the next year, it'll give AV some options.

* - includes bonus money in contract
ELC - denotes player on Entry Level Contract
NTC - denotes No Trade Clause in Contract
NMC - denotes No Movement Clause in Contract

2014 Draft picks
  • 1st round NYR
  • 2nd round NYR*
  • 3rd round NYR
  • 4th round NYR
  • 5th round Florida (for Casey Wellman)
  • 5th round NYR*
  • 6th round NYR
  • 7th round NYR*

  • Eventually NO 2nd rounder NYR (conditionally traded to San Jose for Ryan Clowe in 2013 - condition being if he resigns with NYR - then San Jose gets the pick. It will be the Rangers' 5th-round pick in 2014 condition is not met.
  • Eventually NO 7th rounder (conditionally traded to San Jose along with Tommy "horror-movie" Grant for Brandon Mashinter 2013 - condition being if he resigns with NYR then San Jose gets the pick). B. Mashinter has now been qualified - likely meaning this pick is going to San José

Hey BBKers just to help along with your great chart. Rangers sent the Wild the jackets 6th round pick, they still have their own, and Niemi was not qualified.

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Justin Falk from Minnesota in exchange for forward Benn Ferriero and a sixth-round pick (originally Columbus’) in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Katie Strang ‏@KatieStrangESPN 2 Jul

Rangers also did not extend qualifying offers to Niemi and Pamieri. Would not have qualified Ferriero, either. Ferriero was traded for Falk.

Thanx - about the Wild trade you are totally correct. Will fix. Saw on cap geek that Niemi is still listed as an RFA even though beat writers have said he is not qualified. Will just wait and see there... You are probably right but I did not delete him due to this unclarity...

ALL of the players going to free agency in 2014 SHOULD be playing for contract extensions, especially the ones on ELC's that want raises next year. This is the perfect opportunity to actual produce points and score goals, especially under a new coach with fresh blood and fresh play making methods. Should these guys work their ***** off, not only will they get contract extensions, but I can surely see us back into the playoffs, and not as a bottom feeder
