The tough guy club would explode.

The "omg we need more size!!!" camp's heads would explode, indeed. Ironically, most of those people also want more scoring from the bottom six, which Gerbe can provide.

However, I don't see room for both Gerbe and Zucc here. I'd take Zucc 10/10 times.

It'd literally be the same spot as for Ryder or MacArthur or Raymond or or or.

I get not wanting the player, but lets be reality here, the spot is there.

Yeah, but those three are third line caliber players — Gerbe is a fourth liner, if that.

He put up 3rd line numbers a couple of years ago. Wonder what the issue is.

Actually, I can guess that it's exactly what I worry about with Zuccarello.

I think that there is a majority of us who want a team that can play and win any kind of game that our opponents throw at us. That can be more of a skill game, that can be a much more physical game.

Two teams that I look back on that could play anyway you wanted them to were the great Islander and Canadian team of the late 70's and early 80's. Probably the best pure blend of talent and toughness that the NHL has ever had.

No one using his head wants four lines of Lucic or believes that Lindberg is another soft Euro. We get some knuckle heads in here who like to toss bombs around, but most of us are trying to use our heads.

I've stated many times how much faith I have in the abilities of Gorton and Clark. I think they have rightly focused on drafting skill. The BPA. It's very difficult to draft the kinds of players I'm talking about because by they are mostly gone by the time our picks come up. I think it's time for the Rangers to consider using some assets to target some of the better big men in league.

Gerbe isn't nearly as skilled/smart as Zuccarello with or without the puck, IMO. He's actually built like a tank for someone of his size. If Zuccs had Gerbe's strength, he'd be an elite player.

Here's a post from a Sabres fan on the trade rumours forum:

Gerbe was terrible last year. His puck possession stats were something that bards will sing tales about one day. There were some games when if Gerbe was on the ice Buffalo was pinned in their own zone for something like 80% of the time. When he wasn't on the ice the numbers went down to normal (for Buffalo). Broken back or not he's simply not skilled enough to win puck battles with his size and he has no clue how to play Hockey without the puck on his stick.

I mentioned in another post a while back but if Buffalo had a somewhat competent player in place of Gerbe and Regehr last year they would have just barely made the playoffs. They were that bad for us.

DO NOT WANT.

I didn't explain it, so you mistook what I meant. Guys who are small tend to not be able to sustain production over long periods of time, like a full season. Whether its because they don't have the hands to match their physique or the physique to match their hands or the skating ability to get out of tight spots, it's ultimately their size that does them in.

Rangers and Ducks need to make a deal.. how about Matt Beleskey?

maybe something along the lines of

Del Zotto and Powe to Ducks
Sami Vatanen, Beleskey and 1st in 2014 to Rangers

I'm down for MZA in the top 6 just not the bottom 6.

I think MZA can do a good job in the top 6 , thing is not so sure about the other wingers. Nash and Callahan are fine but after that who is it? Kreider I guess but would rather have a proven option.

I do think Richards will be better. Everyone will be hard on him but he can bounce back in a full season and Stepan was great

Brassard will be good on the PP but isnt really a 3rd line C. Hagelin is a perfect 3rd line LW but I dont think he should be a 2nd line guy. On this team he is right now though

Dorsett may be able to play 3rd line RW minutes. Kristo, Fast are the wild cards

I could see Boyle moved but at the same time he is a good defensive C.

I am in the moving Pyatt camp. I dont think its terrible having Asham, Powe, Haley as the 12.13,14 F on the depth chart especially with some of the kids like Miller, Lindberg as call up options and likely Kristo, Fast, Hrvik

Overall I think they have good young options but need to do something balzy to get a top 6 winger. Overpaying for a UFA is not an option

How far away is Vatanen from making an NHL impact? While the value isn't horrible, the Anaheim 1st next year is likely to be in the 16-24 range...not too great. If we're trading Del Zotto, I want someone who's more proven and/or a top forward as the main piece coming back.

I pass.

An agent speculated that today has been quiet as far as free agent talk because teams are still trying to make trades to clear cap space.

I want Ryder on a short term deal. He's got everything this team lacks. Scoring, can play either wing so he's versatile, an elite right handed shot, and he's really good on the PP. There is absolutely a spot for him on a fair deal IMO, maybe what he makes now or a slight bump

> Propose trade supposedly based on Matt Belesky
> Said trade has Del Zotto, Vatanen, and a 1st involved

if they deal DZ they need a top 6 winger coming back. Thats that

can likely find a stop gap RD for this yr in Free Agency

What is a regular buyout and could we do that with some dead weight?

the difference between a compliance buyout and a regular buyout is that a regular buyout counts against the cap as dead cap space, while the 2 compliance buyouts don't count against the cap and the cap hit is just gone.

So what's the cap on guys like Asham powe etc if we bought them out and could we even

add me to the list of people interested in blum...wasn't big on the idea of trading for him but as a ufa i'm hugely interest.
