Absolutely zero interest in Burns. Way overpaid.

He's making basically 5 mil cash next 3 years. They retain a bit more and it's as good a contract as any that we will find for a legit top 4 D.

He's 37... but he just scored 50+ points as a defender playing 26 minutes. He will no question still provide top 4 play by end of his contract, imo.

Burns is a different breed. Only concern I see is him not being a fit. We need more of a stabilizer there, imo. Can't go wrong with Burns, and I believe we have legit interest because we were in on Deangelo as well.

Look at his age and remaining salary. The player himself? Sure. But there are consequences and casualties to bring in Burns long term, especially when he most likely doesn't live up to his contract over next few years.

Assuming we aren't going be spending right at the cap for the next 3 years, Burn's real cost to the team is 4.33M a year in salary.

There's no way he justifies his 8M cap hit but he could definitely be worth 4.33M.

It’s nice seeing players willing to come here or being traded and seeming genuinely happy about it. Just goes to show what happens when you build a strong team and don’t have wildly unstable ownership.

The difference in Burns is he would be the cheapest to acquire (in assets) and they can take back Zaitsev

vs Chychrun and Weegar

Anyone would be amazing though so lets see

As someone who's always on the lookout for alien activity It's pretty clear to me that Pierre Dorion has been taken over by a body snatcher. I'll hold off searching for the pods until after we've landed a top pairing RD.

Father time is undefeated and Burns (and that cap hit) are going to age like milk in the sun. No thanks.

We need to keep some cap flexibility for the inevitable Stutzle monster and then Sanderson.

The first 2 years dont' really matter. I don't think we're going to hit the cap then. That last year might be iffy just because all our big RFA's are coming up then.

13 mil real money remaining

SJS can easily retain some cap, and take Zaitsev back

Any top 4 man is gonna be roughly 5m per year+

Is he still going to be a top 4 dman at 40 years old? Right when we want to win cups? I doubt it.

Spend the assets and get a guy who fits our core better. Weegar/Marino/Chychrun.

and unless it's a pure salary dump from SJ's perspective, what is Burns going to cost? We're running out of things to trade that arent good prospects
