Why are we trading Brown though? He's awesome and cheap for this year. If you HAVE to to sign the other ginger, then so be it, but there HAS to be a means to an end here.
We have Joseph who is pretty much going to take his spot, cheaper and younger. Mix in the fact that he isn't going to re-sign, why not trade him? Top 9 is stacked

Testing free agency means every team gets to talk to him. Look what happened in Calgary. We don't want that.
You know what I mean though. We're gunning for the playoffs finally and he's a huge piece. As long as we don't get pool party and call it a day here...

Why not treat this as your trade deadline expenditure though? You know what I mean? Or else make damn sure you use anything you get back to get a TOP 4 DMAN! I can't stress the top 4 enough lol

He's not going to get anymore PP time and certainly less ice time. I don't think he's going to get more valuable.

Also we still do have an internal salary cap and now is when we are spending.

10 minutes.

The only thing that sucks about today it that I am at a resort on the Red Sea and everyone will think I am crazy as I cackle with glee. Maybe some of the Russians here will get it...

We want to compete for more than just this year though. Trading him doesn't lose a good asset for nothing, and hopefully gets us some cap space for a top 4 defenceman.

That's what I want, a top 4 D. I want to parlay him into a top 4 D somehow.

Brown to Edmonton is close as per Bob McKenzie

Dorion has been cloned or what? How does he manage to do all this at the same time?

What about the procrastination? Doesn't do that anymore?

I'm kinda scared about the return though. Please no Yamamoto/Barrie/Puljujarvi

We added DeBrincat and Giroux and might add a Top-4 D-man.

The reality became that we won't be able to afford Brown long-term who deserves a near Hyman contract.

Connor Brown is being replaced by Claude Giroux, who is basically Brown's elite version

We could have kept him this season but we expect to AT LEAST be in the playoffs race all season... so we would not trade him at the deadline and end up losing him for nothing next off-season.
