On Sportsnet 960, Calgary Radio, they had a guy this morning who covers the flames, Derek Wills, who is close to the Flames, staying he thinks Ottawa are right. Whims St. Louis.

Ottawa has cap space. Great young players. Picks. Prospects. Brothers playing together. And he thinks Ottawa would fill the CTC with a unique set of brothers since the Sedins

Ottawa doesn't really have cap space though.

The top 6 is loaded, so Batherson would have to go back the other way, no?

If Dorion sees a path to keep the pieces we need kept and fit both Tkachuks in there, fine.

Matthew is better than Batherson, I'm sold on that.

It's that all our cap space would be locked up in the top 6. Just like the leafs.

The Calgary thing reads like a guy just saying stuff for content for the show, with a little side of trying to help the Calgary org out by making it seem like there could be more suitors than there really are for Matthew, try and drive his return up.
I am surprised that Flames didn't see this coming is was so obvious he was going to go to the Blues and for big cash.

I love our Captain and we have him long term but I would not be surprised if he follows his brother to St. Louis at the end of his deal. That is a long way off but this is just the business of sports.

IF we trade for Matthew (waste of assets at this point, in my opinion) then where do we hypothetically slot everyone? I know some will say "having too many good players is a great problem" and that's mostly true but whose production falls off a cliff as a result? There's only 1 first unit PP on the team and there's only 6 spots in the top 6 group. B. Tkachuk, M. Tkachuk, Batherson, Norris, Stutzle, Debrincat, Chabot, Giroux, player X (another top 4 D) - pick 5 for your first unit PP, the rest immediately see a drop in their point totals. Sign him for free in a year and maybe you figure it out then.

You don't slot everyone. Batherson is gone in this scenario minimum.

I believe that, at the moment, Batherson has a trade value somewhere between severely compromised and completely non-existent.

Sure.

Even without the constant "WHAT DO YOU GUYS ThINK ABOUT FORMS AND DRAKE" posts, there is noone else in the top 6 that is moveable other than Batherson to make room for Matthew.

Which is why , just like the constant attempts to get speculation to nowhere going on the above topic, there is nothing going with trading for Matthew Tkachuk.

I have no idea why Batherson hasn't put out a statement. Neither do you. But let's take a look at a couple of these:

“All of Global News’ questions will be asked and answered during the pending NHL investigation. Dillon did not engage in any wrongdoing, and he cooperated fully with the independent London Police Service investigation in 2018, through which all players were then cleared of any wrongdoing.”

“Boris has fully cooperated with the Hockey Canada investigation and will continue to provide that cooperation in any further investigation. Beyond this statement we are not commenting further.”

"All of Global News’ questions will be asked and answered during the pending NHL investigation. That said, none of the players you reference engaged in any wrongdoing, all of the players cooperated fully with the independent London Police Service investigation in 2018, and all players were then cleared of any wrongdoing,”

These statements aren't clearing anyone of anything. So this "check them off the list" process of elimination approach people are taking is bizarre.

Hell, Deshaun Watson has made all sorts of statements.
It’s not that they get “checked off the list” if they make a statement. But imo it’s weird that if one of the players was innocent they wouldn’t be scrambling to make that as clear as possible in a statement asap.
That’s what I’d do for sure. It cannot hurt one bit.

Tyler Steenbergen just put out a statement denying involvement. Are the two Sens players really going to be the last two to even acknowledge it happened (if they even do)? It's only Batherson, Formenton, and Mcleod now who have been radio silent.

And no, I know a statement doesn't mean they're innocent.

What will social media do? What will the NHL and the various teams do? It’s not against any rules to partake in consensual group sex no matter how much some people may find it abhorrent.

As an aside, it is determined that some of the guys did in fact commit a crime, what is the level of involvement of the players who came and went and didn’t involve themselves in the activities, but we’re present during what has been deemed the commission of a crime…
None of us know what actually happened in that hotel room.

A young lady surrounded by 8 guys is a horrible image but is it a fact that any or all of them actually touched her?

When I was in grade 12, I was at a party, lots of drinking and a young lady (drunk) started stripping. Immediately, ten guys surrounded her and started watching. There were comments from the guys making fun of her, really degrading comments, mean spirited stuff.

I am sure she felt terrible about the whole thing the next day and was ashamed of herself. But no crime had been committed. The comments from the guys left a bad taste in my mouth. I can only imagine how she felt.

What actually happened in that London hotel room? I have seen terms like gang rape thrown around on twitter. For me, it's not clear whether the guys that entered the room actually assaulted her or not.

Im not trading Batherson

arguably our best forward and has the best contract on the team

Assuming he is not implicated then it would be stupid to trade a high value contract for Tkachuk. A 70 point player making ~5 mil should be worth more than a 100 point player making 10+ mil in the salary cap world. At least for smart teams.

They opened their investigation for review yesterday

Nothing will change with regards to the outcome of course, unless there was some serious negligence on their part
They reopened because of public opinion. This is a really weird situation. Hockey Canada involved the police and an independent investigation at the time. People are acting like this was a cover up...because they don't like the outcome? People talk about famous people getting special treatment but it cuts both ways.

He also disabled his IG comments like 24 hours ago after his comment section was spammed with rape accusations. To still remain silent as an innocent person since then…would really be something.

He doesn’t owe anyone anything sure, but people don’t owe him the benefit of the doubt either. That’s just how it works.
To remain silent as a guilty person seams just as weird...unless he plans to plead guilty to a crime?

You have this upside down. Not being allowed to talk about this without proof is what's dangerous and allows it to continue.
Talk is fine and proper.

Accusations, assumptions and vilifying people before the facts are known is wrong.

There is a clear difference.

Anyone who believes they have enough information to have an informed opinion on what happend and who if anyone is guilty is just wrong. They may end up being correct but they got there in a bad way.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with calling for further investigation as long as it doesn't pressure the authorities to make charges they don't believe are true.

I mean you could just read the allegations like everyone else instead of postulating Hockey Canada paid out millions in a settlement to close out a case where some players looked at a naked girl
