I was really hoping that Ottawa would get De Haan as some depth for the defence. He is from Ottawa after all.

Garrioch liked a tweet about the Sens announcing Chychrun that was posted by his buddy/burner account. Probably meaningless but I do expect he'll get traded on the eve of training camp.
What tweet
And what does Sens announcing Chychurn mean

Wonder why he hasn't been seen skating with the rest of the crew in the area (JPG...etc.)

Because we’re waiting for training camp to kick into high gear so we can record it for a Bell Breakaway bit.

Chychrun ‘gonna walk into the dressing room geared up and blow the teams GmpD minds.

Also he’s building a house and running a hockey camp.

I don't care what Steve Lloyd says, I'm convinced Ottawa is still very much in on Chychrun. They have been the supposed front runners for him this whole offseason, and no other team has stepped up with a winning offer with days to go before training camps open. Plus he apparently hasn't left the Ottawa area yet (yes I know his family has a cottage here).

As long we don't cave and overpay.

Exactly. I think we are in on Chychrun in the sense that Dorion has made an offer, and if the Coyotes are interested they can pick up the phone and make it happen. Otherwise I'm not convinced there's any active discussion at this point.
That the most likely, agreed

I have the same feeling. Our biggest need was a top D, just doesn’t make sense to have such an incredible off season to not address our biggest need. I believe it happens.

Dorion might not want to pay that heavy a price before seeing what we have though. It's harsh, we're in a poor position with Arizona. They want Greig or Pinto along with the 1st and pieces (this is a guess on my part) and are willing to play the waiting game with us.

At this point I don't even want an appropriate pay.

Max I'd hope we give up is something like:

'23 1st(top 3 protected)
Ostapchuk
Kleven
Brannstrom

AND they take back Zaitsev

Basically two B prospects, a suit in the dark at a top 4-10 pick and a reclamation project. Not out of spite but only because I'd rather see what JBD and Thomson do. Especially if rumors of good Zub news are true. I want us to focus on trades through the year and UFA 2023 instead, while keeping futures depth rather than losing pieces ready to join ranks in 1-2 years and multiple top 60 picks. Maybe r can get our own Marino or Weegar.

Was surprised we didnt go after him tbh - although admittedly Im not very sure where his game is at today,

Hamonic might make him a bit redundant here, especially if we can get another real top 4 d sometime.

Last I heard it was Sanderson, and our 1st next year as the base...But we cant give Greig Pinto or Sandy...If the want another 1st I am ok with that TBH ,also protection for next year,s pick will likely not happen

For Arizona to pry Sanderson away, Ottawa would be turning down Chychrun and a 1st for Sanderson straight up. Sanderson is a non starter and the Coyote's should know this.

What are the Zub rumours?

I think it's Arizona that's in a poor position. We don't have to make a trade for Chychrun. Arizona on the other almost has to move him.

Do they really though? Who knows anymore, I hope you're right and we can get him without any major damage

Someone in the Zub thread said they had a contract say some good news coming this week. Vague but we're all optimistic!

That’s a lot for Chychrun.

Well, in that scenario, we are also cap dumping Zaitsev.
Yup, breaks down as roughly:

'23 1st(top 3 protected)
Kleven
Brannstrom

for Chychrun

And

Kleven

for unloading Zaitsev

Both of which are somewhat underpays considering our 1st projects to be very likely in the 10s or likely teens with Chychrun added and no depth lost.
