I don't really see the point of them trading Rantanen for a late 1st++ either. If the teams are actually Florida, Vegas, and Dallas - that might mean it's a trade with an extension. Those are the three meme teams that every star player wants to sign with. It could end up being more of a hockey trade, like the original Rantanen trade.

Serious speculation on my part, but I wouldn't put it past Andlauer to make an arena announcement tomorrow. I get the SENSe he's seriously passed about the forfeited 1st not being disclosed prior to the sale and is looking for ways to upstage Bettman any chance he gets. Loved the Ullmark announcement an hour prior to the start of game 7 of the SC final last year!

Maybe Andlauer needs to dump the "maybe if I'm nice" card. Maybe play some hardball, refuse to accept this league endless bias and bullshit. Perhaps he announces he is having great difficulty rationalizing an expensive investment in a relocation downtown, pouring more money into the team when he is dealing with a league that wooed him to make the purchase. They think nothing of punishing a new owner who had zero involvement in the original infraction. He knew there was an issue but they never disclosed anything near that level of risk to him as he was was purchasing the team. Ask yourself if anything like that punitive costly sentence would have been imposed on any of Gary's fave teams!

Edit: Let's also not ignore the bush-league NHL's culpability in this either. The NHL reviews and approves all trades. You mean to tell me that they do not have any central registry of every single NHL player's contract to review trades for compliance against? Speaks more about incompetent NHL than an idiot GM mistake!
