If Lawson Crouse LW is available from Utah, Staois should absolutely look to acquire him. It seems he might need a change of scenery, but what would it cost to acquire Crouse?
I don’t like deals where we give up the best playerJust hypothetical but would you guys do Norris and a 4th for Soucy and Lekkerimaki?
Leaves us thin down the middle with Stu, Pinto, Ostap and Halliday but opens up a ton of cap space.
Personally, I don't think we need Soucy. We have Mantinpalo who's almost as good, but Soucy would give us depth on the blueline. .And Lekk could potentially be a top 6 winger for us down the road.
There is your Josh Norris trade lol
Norris + Forsberg + 1st rounder hahahahahaha
You already posted that today, still noWhat about Norris for Mittelstadt?
What about Mittelstadt and something for Norris?
Don't think I was notified until now but why not?You already posted that today, still no
Norris is the better player imo.Don't think I was notified until now but why not?
Well a trade saves us some money and I don't want a 1 for 1.Norris is the better player imo.
I think Reichel has more value to the Hawks than having Halliday in their system. He's young enough to still break outWe should go after Lukas Reichel instead of Ryan Donato from the Hawks.
22 year old potential top 6 LWer that may be able to be acquired cheaply in a change-of-scenery deal.
Hawks would probably want a young player in return for him. Maybe Halliday would be of interest to them.
There is some smoke around Norris and so I do wonder if this happens before the trade deadline. We value center depth and size so we'd have to turn around and grab another center with assets either from the trade or our 3rds from '26.If VAN takes Norris, they are going to want to dump contracts with term beyond just Soucy.
I also think that we won't get anything nearly at the level of Norris back. It will be like trading Norris for 2-3 contracts with the logic being, we get out of the long-term obligation to Norris and we fill 2-3 positions of need.
Along with Soucy, here are their current players with term who might be expendable:
Garland could also possibly be on that list, but he stepped up his game this year and only has 1 year left. I don't think they move him. I doubt they move Chytil, but I put him on that list. Are they showcasing him, or is he playing a bigger role for them by virtue of their poor center depth?
- Soucy LD (3.25M x 2 years)
- Chytil C (4.43M x 3 years)
- Joshua LW (3.25M x 4 years)
- Hoglander LW (1.1M x 1 year + 3M x 3 years extension)
Chytil or Joshua
Soucy
Hoglander
For
Norris
Two bottom 6 or #7D type depth roster players.
Sens would move out about 9.5M-10M this season (Norris at 8M + two roster spots totalling 1.55M+). Hoglander and Soucy cost 4.35M. That leaves enough to add Joshua or Chytil and still keep it cap compliant for Ottawa.
That also possibly opens cap to go after Donato or Tanev. So all of a sudden, it creates a scenario where previously the Senators depth was being heavily tested, and all of a sudden they turn Norris into 3-4 NHLers.
Not saying that logic checks out or it's a good trade to make, but when I hear Norris to VAN with Soucy coming back, that's what I expect. Soucy to be packaged with 2 more misfit toys. Joshua makes a lot of sense because we badly need size and toughness in our lineup (Minnesota game being the case study for this), and there is a legitimate reason why he has taken a step back this year (offseason testicular cancer surgery). So you look at that contract beyond this season and hope that a year after his procedure, he might be able to bounce back and start producing again.
See Vancouver. Boeser if we can resign him +Why are we still talking about trading Norris?
The cap jumping massively over the next 3 seasons may not make his contract a steal or even attractive, but he's no longer going to prevent us from making additional quality acquisitions, which was really the only reason to get rid of him.
We dump Norris and we need to find another top 6 forward, which is difficult when we have no expendable assets to trade and generally aren't an attractive destination for UFAs or players with NTCs.
If we can get actual value for him in a trade from a team desperate for a 2nd line center, that's a different story, but I don't expect teams will be willing to give up anything good for him.

Norris for Rantanen would be unbelievable.
If Carolina thinking of moving him, we should be absolutely all over it. He's the real deal.
Though if he doesn't re-sign in Carolina, why would he Ottawa.

It'd have to be Boesser coming back, possibly retained, + since he's UFA. I don't even know if we'd keep him or flip him again. Depends on what we want to spend to try and sign him.
So your response is a fool's dream? I mean injured player for injured player; Boeser would likely be Stutzles line mate. If he can get 40 again on his wing that's found money.I really do not understand fascination with Boeser. At all.
Before anyone says 40 goals, 73 points.... yea, his linemate was JT Miller who scored 103 points.
And outside of that season, he never hit 30 any other time. AND he is weak defensively. And he is injury-riddled history himself.
No. Thanks.
Ottawa: Rantanen
Vancouver: Norris
Carolina: Boeser + Ottawa 2nd + Lekkerimaki/Soucy
