Elliot Friedman still floating Josh Norris' name out there in trade rumours with Vancouver.

What would be the return given Norris' injury problems?

I don’t think it was Friedman who threw Norris’ name out there, that was just Soucy. The article says Adam Kierszenblat thinks the Canucks are interested in Norris. Looked him up and he’s a writer for the site, no idea how reliable he is.

Highmore probably brings more in his role than Halliday would at the moment.
I’d think that the concern with Halliday would be how well he can play on the defensive side of things, especially with Green as the coach. And, I’m probably more open than some/many about not following stereotypical patterns, so I wouldn’t be opposed to giving him a chance. For example, I envisioned (& posted) that Gaudette had a good chance of making the team during the exhibition games this year. But, it doesn’t seem like too many NHL coaches think that way. I also don’t have the benefit of viewing many AHL games, so that’s worth noting as well.

As for roster decisions and potential additions, I think a lot boils down to how quickly at least one of our 2 injured centers can get back into the lineup after the 4 nations tournament. If one of them is ready to go not long after the 4N tournament, that might change how they approach things.

I wouldnt be surprised if Canucks are interested in Norris, he's having a solid season but I think its a bad idea.

Ya, the title mentioned Norris, but the actual article didn’t say anything about Norris. The subject of the article was Soucy. With the way media presents info and attention grabbing titles, it's imperative to read the article.

It did have info on Norris at the end, just wasn’t a Friedman quote.

In Friedmans discussions with Adam Kierszenblat he floats the Norris' name.
In the article Norris is mentioned in this paragraph:

The Canucks want to add more depth up front and also need some extra help on the blue line but the focus seems to be up front," he said "Ottawa's Josh Norris seems to be a player they want as he was roomates with [Quinn] Hughes in college. That's the name to watch."

I don’t think Friedman spoke to Adam Kierszenblat. The article is kind of confusing because it talks about Friedman’s comments on the radio and then flips to something else. If you click on the link the article references, Friedman’s Soucy comments are there.

Then later when he says “When speaking with Canucks Insider for the Hockey News, Adam Kierszenblat, he spoke to the kind of player Soucy is and how well-liked he is,” I don’t think he is speaking about Friedman talking to him, the writer himself spoke to Adam. And that’s when they segue into Norris. So Friedman as a whole did not mention or discuss Norris with anyone.

Anyway, on the topic of Friedman, he did say this:

7. Colorado made a run at Miller, but it never got close enough to threaten the Rangers deal. That’s why Casey Mittelstadt’s name is out there. Believe New Jersey, Ottawa and Toronto poked around, but not with much traction.

Also mentions that we went hard after Saad. I am not sure how we would acquire Mittelstadt in-season unless we were to trade Norris.

What about Mittelstadt and something for Norris?

Doesn't he mean Ottawa, Toronto, and New Jersey poked around on Miller? Not Mittelstadt.
Ohh yes I think you’re right.
That's also how I interpreted that. Seeing the package for Miller... I doubt Norris was on the table. He's waaaay better than what they got.
He would’ve had to be to make the salary work. The talks might not have even gotten that far though since Miller wasn’t going to waive for us.

No one on the The Hockey News is reliable. It's turned into a completely dogcrap publication.
