He got a first for Ceci????Fire Grier
for GranlundGetting 100 point center for that is good business
He got a first for Ceci????
How is Granlund worth a first?
Well he is their leading scorer, so at least there's that. How is Granlund worth a first?
More than a first. Ceci has negative value. How is Granlund worth a first?
Probably the most likely scenario but there is a chance that Tuch is reluctant to re-sign and as a consequence would potentially be a trade option.I’d think (guess) Buffalo will re-sign Tuch. They’ll have plenty of cap space next year and he’s a good player.
Granlund was the perfect player for them to add, I wouldn't be surprised if they identified him independent of the Karlsson trade.Ceci would have gotten a 2nd/3rdish by himself at the deadline from a playoff team.
Real good work by Grier, turned the absolute worst contract in the league into Sam Dickinson + 2025 1st (with some spare change to and from)
Getting out of the Karlsson contract is astounding in and of itself. Getting 2 very nice picks for it is unreal.
I don't want to see the Sens making any deals where one of our good young players, prospects or assets are traded away for a deadline acquisition. There are several players available that could be had for cheap where we could ship off assets we don't need. Most of the players people are talking about would be too expensive to acquire at the deadline, I would much rather see them target a really good RW this summer in free agency when they won't cost any assets.Probably the most likely scenario but there is a chance that Tuch is reluctant to re-sign and as a consequence would potentially be a trade option.
A team that has Dumba and Ceci in their 2/3 pairings doesn’t scream cup winners to me. sheeesh
Are there any Clarke MacArthur's around?
Ceci would have very easily gotten a pretty good pick at the deadline.More than a first. Ceci has negative value.
Vancouver should've held out.
Top 20 center for a third line center, top 4 D and depth D is not enough value
Also helps them stay in the 25.5% slot for 1st overallCeci would have gotten a 2nd/3rdish by himself at the deadline from a playoff team.

You said "The got back a top pairing D, an iffy top 9 center, a top 9 forward, and an NHL ready #7 defenseman."The problem with how some people on HF judge trades is they ignore the fact that teams have numerous stakeholders that they have to satisfy.
Yes, they are probably better off in the long run holding on to that 1st, especially with the kind of disarray the Rangers are in - but the GMs job is to execute the wishes of ownership or top management. Additionally, they have a franchise player who after this season is 2 years away from UFA status (sound familiar?). Missing the playoffs this year and next year virtually guarantees that Quinn Hughes probably leaves or at the very least doesn't extend early.
The got back a top pairing D, an iffy top 9 center, a top 9 forward, and an NHL ready #7 defenseman. If they can re-sign Pettersson, that's a decent outcome.
People would be more accepting if they never owned the first, but instead of Pettersson being part of the Miller return, now it's like they gave up McKenna for him to some people. (Which knowing Pittsburgh's luck, is probably the case, but that's not the point.0
Not to mention, they dumped two 2Mx2Y contracts that weren't working.
