Proposal: Free agency edition Trade Rumours/Proposals [MOD - Stay on Topic] 5

Bruce Boudreau on NHL Sirius Radio yesterday praised JT Miller saying that he would take him on any team he coached. He also liked Pettersson… tons of skill.

Seems to me like Briere got fleeced in that trade, but maybe they think Torts can get Kuzmenko back on track or something. Otherwise I just don't see the point of losing two solid young guys like that for scraps.
Kuzmenko played with Michkov. Frost and Farabee were frustrating as they never gained consistency nor reached anywhere close to their potential. I wouldn’t be surprised if JT Miller is a Flyer soon.

Pelletier is the main piece. Philly is probably hoping they are acquiring a "Mike Hoffman half a year after he cleared waivers" type asset.

Kuzmenko might be able to be rehabilitated into an asset by the deadline, maybe he will help Michkov, but I think he is largely there for short-term cap balance.

I think the Flyers are looking towards their offseason and figured they are trending out of the playoffs, they could move out some contracts that they no longer want earlier. My guess would be that they wanted to get out of the Farabee contract, and they liked Pelletier. Frost is also arbitration eligible and has a decent resume, despite not living up to it this season. They might not be crazy about potentially having to pay him 3M-4M through arbitration, and not being able to walk away from it.

I don't think Kuzmenko has a lot of value. He is likely there to help balance out some of the cap. If he has a bounce back, I would guess they flip him at the deadline with retention. I don't think there would be a market for him though.

For the Flames, they added two roster players who if they bounce back are huge upgraded in the short term over Pelletier and Kuzmenko. Pelletier probably wasn't worth much on the trade market, and he isn't playing a big role for them. They basically upgraded two roster spots without giving up any short-term assets - the only asset they gave up was the long-term cap to absorb the term of Farabee's contract. It's like getting two rentals months early, it's really good work in that regard.

Gotta watch any Vegas/St.Louis trades over the next year to see if an extra third is snuck in there going to St.Louis.

I wonder if Karlsson eventually goes this route. His window to win is closing. His real money AAV after this season is 8.25M x 2 years. He is also 35 after this season which leaves things open to sign a contract with signing performance bonuses. If there is no market for him, I doubt Pittsburgh would be opposed to getting 16.5M off the books in a rebuild.

If he has 16.5M left, how much does he have to get on a 2 year contract from one of the meme tax-free contenders for terminating his contract to become palatable? I wonder if he goes down that route.

Given that Nashville looks like they are going to be out of the playoffs, I think Ott should pursue Michael McCaron C/RW as an upgrade on their 4th line . It would take more than Gregor, but I'd add him to a package to balance out the salaries & maybe a 3rd rder.

McCaron would be an upgrade on Highmore, & Gregor & be able to play the role we will need in the home stretch & in the playoffs when things get intense rather than lose one of our better players for 5 to 7 mins. He has another yr on his contract which may be good or bad but it's under a million & like it or not Ott needs this kind of player on their roster in certain games & certainly will need in the playoffs. I think it's their biggest need right now.

Ostapchuk - McCaron - Gaudette
Ostapchuk - McCaron - MacEwan :thumbu:
Ostapchuk - Halliday - McCaron

We should of given Nick Paul his 7 years at $3 million and Mike Amadio would be Nick Paul but with a decade of love

Petterson was a no show in the playoffs, and has a massive new salary. I’m not sure I’m interested in paying a massive price to acquire him.

I’d rather take Miller if it was one or the other.

Petersen has a Yashin vibe, kinda weird guy with loads of talent but not a lot of heart and a no show playoff guy

i get what your saying but sens need an injection of offense more imo. McCaron would add to the team but wouldnt fill a primary need. Sens have only scored 23 goals in the last 10 games. I understand we are playing a defense first system but need another offensive piece for our top 9

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Giroux
XXXX-Norris-Batherson
Perron-Pinto-Greig
Cousins/Gregor/Gaudette-Ostapchuk-Amadio

Now i have no problem if the winger we get is a physical winger. But we definitely need a forward that can get 0.5 ppg. Then if needed we can shuffle that top 9 around.
