Well even with his low shooting %, he's got more than double Joseph's 4 point production this year, if you're asking, while also clearly playing more defensively sound hockey. Also makes 350k less. Cup winner who was actually a big part of their run. Easier player to move I'd say pretty easily.

No trade protection. Although I did almost include a blurb about how Trotz may operate as though ROR has a defacto, partial NTC which would make such a deal impossible. Instead I just said "pipe dream"

This would carry some weight if the two players were traded at the same time and under similar cap circumstances... but neither of those things would be true. Teams will be taking efforts just to reach the floor next year. That also ignores the many intangible and tangible factors that would suggest Amadio carries more league-wide appeal.

i do think amadio is a movable piece, that being said we cant move him until the offseason since he was an FA signing and we struggle to attract FA's anyways. Would be a poor message to send

As for Gaudette, i would offer him a 1 year contract with a slight raise but one we can bury with no cap penalty. He does well he's on the team. If he does meh then we still did him a solid in case he gets claimed on waivers. If he wants term then yeah you let him walk immediately

Gaudette is plus 10. He is 4th on the team in plus minus.
He is ahead of many of our players in many many statistical categories as I have shown in my posts which i have used in my arguments and in my opinion should be back next year based on his achievements this year which are impressive.

I don't see a place for Gaudette on this team. Hopefully he is an enticing enough piece that a San Jose or Chicago (can't see it) will take him as part of a rental return. And who knows, maybe he gets deployed favorably somewhere else and makes those of us doubting him look foolish, nothing wrong with that.

I'd much rather see dollars allocated to improving the top 6, with some left for Giroux (3rd line next year).

Count me in on the chorus that Gaudette is not a lock for next year or even the rest of this year. Pretty clear he struggles to hold his own defensively more than any other forward, even the callups like Highmore and Reinhart.

Agreed. Its why if the owner signs off on it a 1 year 900k deal (so it can be completely buried) is worth considering in my opinion. Either we get similar production out of Gaudette or we get good forward depth and someone who in theory should dominate in the ahl and assist in development there

Gaudette is getting heavily sheltered minutes with 67% of his zone starts are in the offensive zone, leading the team, and the lowest D zone start with just 30%. He is also the highest in the team in terms of PDO with 103.7 , basically a stat showing the unsustainability of his production.

Nice story but we should look to improve on that position next year.

I'm sure we called them up and pitched Norris for Pettersson or Miller. Why wouldn't we? But I also figure they would easily say no.

Miller seems a bit more realistic if he would waive to come here, because the other reported close offer for him was pretty bad. I think it was something around Chytil and a protected 1st from the Rangers. They also now lost a trade partner after Carolina acquired Rantanen. I could see how a team like Vancouver might look at Norris and not be crazy about the contract, but relent and take him to make the best short-term hockey deal possible.

I can't imagine a universe where we would get Pettersson for Norris. I don't even know what we would add to that. Not to mention, it would be difficult to fit in his cap hit long-term.

Total pipe dream, but I would kill for Ryan O'Reilly. Only way it could work would be if NSH values Norris relatively highly, which might be the case given Trotz' preferences in play style, roster construction, and retooling over rebuilding.

To OTT: ROR +any mix of Novak, Schenn, and McCarron

Sure, other players are going through a drought too, but unlike Gaudette, outside of Giroux (1.008) they all have a PDO under 1.000. You can expect all of them to move towards 1.000, if Gaudette moves towards 1.000 though, that's bad news for him. He's top 30 in the league among those with 300+ mins in PDO in spite of that drought.

The question is what should we expect from Gaudette.

If we continue to shelter him the way we have, and he gets all 82 games, I'd guess somewhere around a dozen to 15 goals, and 30 pts.
If we move away from sheltering him, I don't think he stays in the lineup.

I'm hopeful we can be in a situation where we don't have a player like Gaudette in our top 9, and I would prefer a 4th line that doesn't need 70% OZ starts.

We are currently playing Highmore ahead of him. let that sink in. When Gaudette isn't scoring, we're playing our 5th callup on the depth chart ahead of him.

MacEwen only costs about $650K if I recall correctly, so that should not be an impediment to signing Olivier.

He also has like the slowest release I’ve ever scene. He takes him legit like 2 seconds to wind that puck back for a wrister

I agree about Forsberg, Hamonic and Highmore but Cousins, and Gaudette might be signed again if we cannot sign someone better at $1M or less.
