Agree with most of this, but I'm cooling on Gaudette. Cousins and Gregor I'd bring back if reasonable. I'd like to see an upgrade on 6th D, whether that's considered Hammer or JBD. I understand you don't like Amadio, but I think we all know there isn't going to be any attempt to "dump" him and his contract. GM just signed him, arguably paid a 3rd to make room for him, depending how you look at it, and the Coach basically uses any opportunity available to bring him up after games. Who knows how they handle Perron if he doesn't come back this year though. They clearly have a top 6 wing hole and a 4 mil salary in the press box makes it hard to fill.
Yeah, I'll have to cope with Amadio, I just hope we'll have 9 better forwards to have a good Top-9 which is KEY in today's NHL IMO.
If only Perron was a few years younger and healthy, it would give us a different outcome. Staios already turned bad situations (Korpisalo + DeBrincat's return and Chychrun) into positives so hopefully he'll be able to do something good for our forward group.
I'm good with our whole defense minus Hamonic who shouldn't be re-signed (I'd be shocked). No idea if Yakemchuk graduates next season but if not, we need a guy like Brannstrom actually but with more size and PIMs if they prefer. A guy they can plug anywhere LD, RD, Top-4, bottom pairing and not get caved in. But let's say that Yak graduates :
Sanderson - Yakemchuk
Chabot - Jensen
Kleven - Zub
JBD
Now you're talking, our D could be a real strength
'll be able to do Disagree on Amadio and Gregor. Amadio is a smart 2-way player, Gregor has great speed and is good on the PK.
Not sure management would try to move Perron seeing as he was facing personal issues and is now injured. Maybe he comes back before the end of the season and makes a difference in the playoff push. Worse case scenario is he is on LTIR in the meantime. Part of the reason they brought him in was for his vet leadership. That reason is still valid.
Amadio is a decent bottom-6 forward but I'd rather have him on my 4th line, which would make his salary too high. He's sorta like Chris Tierney at his peak : too good for the 4th line but you're not going to contend for much if he's on your 3rd line
Perron needs to contribute and it's not his fault that he can't at the moment but we can't afford to have too much "non-productive money". We have no idea how it's going to play out for the rest of the season but can't imagine it's going to be easier if he misses all year and comes back next season at 37 y/o. LTIR doesn't accomplish anything
Here's an Amadio card :
Agree with all of this.
Would sign Gregor at $1M or less as he adds speed and physical play which we need more of.
I'm ok with Gregor as long as he's cheap, he needs to be around my #12-13 forward though. He hasn't been getting very good results so far...
