One thing I’ve noticed about Carbery is that he’s really good at finding a moment to lift up players that have been struggling a bit. Eller has had his ups and downs recently, so it was good to see Carbery specifically call him out for a good game. That kind of stuff can really push a player in a positive way. I feel like so often you see people doing the dumb sports thing of “you shouldn’t have to hold a players hands just for doing what they are paid to do”, but I think that’s kind of a dinosaur mindset. Of course you shouldn’t shy away from ripping into players when they deserve it or tell them what they’re doing wrong if they’re struggling, but positive reinforcement goes a long way, and I think Carbs is great at that, helps to play for a guy when you feel like he cares about you.
