Yes, there are both debits and credits in a General Ledger. You are looking at details like carry over bonuses (not unreasonable), new contracts for RFAs, etc., but most people are just thinking on the level that the cap will rise. In that sense, your ideas probably won’t get much attention or traction until maybe a year from now.

I feel like this thread is too active for our reality. Fun to dream but we have so little trade capital and what we do have should be saved for next year.

All we could pull off right now is a hockey trade involving Greig but there's no sense in jeopardizing our roster at this point. Maybe a 3rd at the deadline but even that will sting a bit too much considering our prospect cupboard. I don't think JBD is even expendable at this point considering he could be somewhat valuable as a cost controlled option next year in the likely scenario that Yak isn't ready.

If I'm Andlauer I'm accepting that the 1st round draft penalty is already being felt in the sense that it's tying our hands when it comes to trade capital. Prospects and picks are just too valuable to us.

I’m kind of thinking along the same lines and that maybe the only addition is a small piece at the deadline if we are in playoff seed at that time.

Greig plays a pest type role but he's not providing any bone crushing physicality above Batherson, Stu and even Norris (when Norris is physically engaged).

If it's fighting than ok but we have Brady who counts as 1.5 tough guys and there really aren't many teams that have more intimidation in their top 6.

Some fans think every player needs to be at least 6 ft. 3 inches and weigh at least 220 lbs. and constantly crush opponents. IDK, but it seems that way some times.

Greig doesn't have the size, but he is easily 2nd on the team as far as big hits go.

He doesn't do it every game, but he lays guys out when given the opportunity. Different type of physicality.

Was just thinking that the Sens desperately need an influx of skill in the pipeline - really need to hit it out of the park at the draft this year.

Trading Greig would be disaster considering how soft our top 6 is and with previous injury history to Norris and even Pinto.

Brady (possible toughest guy in the NHL)
Jimmy Stu (not a soft bone in his body)
Batherson (plays a heavy game a lays some pretty big hits)
Norris (has piles of hits this year, they don’t all have to be bone crushers)
G is not tough fighting wise but he’s a gritty f***er who competes like crazy.

Gaudette is the only guy you might say is soft but it’s hardly like he shys away.

Aside from Brady, no one else can use the body to retain possession or outmuscle opposing defenders with frequency in the top 6. Stutzle does it with skill and excellent skating/edge work. Rest get overpowered more than they win it.

What's made our 3rd line so effective is exactly that, Amadio, Pinto and Cousins overpowering their opposition and being stronger on their stick. They are winning more stick battles.

Yes and dmen get out muscled a lot in our own zone. Tonight on one of Vancouver's goals Chabot got crushed and it lead to a turnover that lead to the Canucks goal. The third goal Debrusk out muscles Kleven and gets body position to score.

Yea, only Chabot really gets outmuscled often. Jensen has been such a savior for him. JBD from time-to-time.

Sanderson, Jensen, Hamonic, Kleven can really hold it down. It's a competency issue with them, not a skill/capability one.

Zub is really key. He handled incoming forechecks extremely well.

It's our forwards that don't have the capability. It's why Greig is so critical there. He needs to be a factor for Tkachuk to be that presence on the top line and Greig on the second line.

We need a replacement for Kleven. The guy is inconsistent with the physical play and he handles the puck like it is a grenade. It nearly cost us tonight with our rookie goaltender.

People were dogging on Chabot for his turnovers in bad spots that one game earlier in the week and Kleven had just as many in that same game playing less than half the minutes. Again tonight when the puck was on his stick in our own zone it was 50/50 if it ended up in a turnover and extended Canucks zone time.

The guy needs to understand he's Travis Hamonic. No more passing, shoot it out of our zone around the boards and get physical. And Staois needs to look for a replacement. It's legitimately bad. JBD looks like an NHL bottom pairing defenseman. Kleven does not.

I get it's a bad matchup because of Hughes and Kleven won't be this bad against other teams but it's the obvious weak spot on this team.

I don't think we need to replace kleven but we def need better depth on defense so someone like Kleven doesnt have to play every night
