What about something around JBD for Jokiharju or Whitecloud? Would either of those be a) and improvement, and b) be realistic targets?

I'd love Whitecloud, I'm a big fan of his. He'd be an upgrade on Kleven, JBD, and Hamonic and would be a solid presence on the 3rd pairing that can gatekeep developing prospects. He's not overpaid, but not sure what we can offer Vegas for him. JBD is a downgrade on him. Maybe the bite on one of our 3rds in the next couple of drafts?

Calgary is hanging on to the final playoff spot for one reason, and that reason is Dustin Wolf. 23 years old and already giving them elite level goaltending. Why can't Ottawa draft a guy like that?

The rest of their team is not very impressive. I agree Andersson and Weegar are both really desirable players. I doubt Calgary will let either guy go.
Maybe we did. We traded them though. Gustavsson & Daccord seem to be doing well.

Different subject - I don’t expect a big return for JBD, or that we’d have much trade leverage if we were to make him available.

2.75 m salary cap. JBD wouldn’t subtract enough cap to make room for Whitecloud even if VGK were interested in JBD.

We'd have to get them to retain a touch, we're about 110k shy of being able to fit him in on a 20 man roster.

We could also waive Forsberg to make the room (would give us about 280k if we use Merilainen as backup)..

Zub is on LTIR right now, so we'd have some time to sort it out if they don't retain, Perron could go on LTIR if whatever is keeping him out is more serious than let on.

This assumes that VGK wants to move Whitecloud and wants JBD (plus the team wants to run with a 20-man roster). I’m not holding my breath waiting for this to happen.

Sure, that's why I asked if it was realistic in the original proposal.

They might like the idea of opening up some capspace, and see Korczak as his natural replacement down the road while JBD gives them a serviceable option to compete with. He's been a guy they're willing to healthy scratch over the year, so who knows.
