Have you ever wonder why you personally feel disrespected? I don’t feel disrespected as a Sens fan, but I also know that none of the push back from players, coaches, GMs, owners, writers, other fans, is directed at me. I tend to agree that the online freak out fan persona is embarrassing (our fans that do this, along with those from all other fanbases).

It’s their way of telling some fans to chill out, and I agree. No one cares about the bullshit pain and suffering of watching a sports team do this and that for 7 years. You’re watching TV, think about that.

The point is that some folks should chill their real live emotions about a game. If you’re this emotionally invested that you constantly lose your shit over watching these sporting events that you can’t control, that’s a personal issue that should really be explored.

All of that emotional energy could/should be put towards something that you actually have agency over, that could have a positive effect on your life, and on the lives around you, but instead…..

Come on now, why not spend all of that energy trying to live your best life in the limited time you have, and leave only the trimmings of that authentic emotional investment, to sport watching.

It is my opinion that we should fight back from letting industries like this make us miserable, while also taking our money. To stop this from happening we do need to do our part and either walk when things make us feel bad, or at the very least only extract what little enjoyment we can, and spend the rest of our emotional capital elsewhere.

Very difficult task I know, as things are pretty bleak in most directions we look.
I’m pissed because I’m the self appointed head of the .’Sens fan union.’.

Marc Methot, Dean Brown, Jason York, Brad Shaw say continuously from Spet, Oct and up to Nov 18 - “If the Sens don’t figure it out a core piece is getting moved and it’s going to hurt”

Sens fans Nov 18 to 20 - “this is bullshit”

Exact Same media today - “if the Sens fans keep saying this, Brady Tkachuk will get traded and it’ll be the fans fault it got to this”

Haha no article. Friedman was also pretty tame, he just said that criticism is fine but if it’s a sign of growing discontentment with Brady be careful what you wish for. And then reiterated everyone gets criticized etc.

I was referring to Staios jumping to address the Tkachuk rumours last year, Green going to bat for Brady after the Vancouver game etc. Just noting they really don’t do this with anyone else.

I think the writing on the wall is just obvious ie if we miss the playoffs again this year Brady is probably on his way out.

if Brady gets traded it’s a failure of management and coaching, fans have nothing to do with it.

We poured as much love into Daneil Aflredsson one city could pour into an athlete and he left to win, this iisnt about the fans, it’s about winning.

Brady wants to win, probably doesn’t want to be in a place the fans are pissed either, all athletes want that, but Brady it not here to spend his entire career on a roof that is never going to get fixed. If he can’t fix it, he’ll let someone else try. He’s not here to die trying, Brasy has career goals and the Senators are not meeting them at all.

Well. Dean Brown is a yutz. York changes his mind every other episode. Marc Methot is our Bieksa. I don't know what Shaw said .

I really don’t think Brady possibly getting traded should things continue to go south is being pinned on the fans so much as they’re using fan discourse to keep a lid on things.

I think if Brady is moved it will be presented for what it is, most people aren’t dense enough to not grasp that we’ve sucked for 7 years and it’s not an ideal situation for the players.

Brady himself said a few weeks ago he signed long-term because he believes this specific group of players can win. It’s easy for them to present a scenario where Brady has no interest in a retool and therefore they part ways.

Andlauer set the expectations low with hiring Staios and the bar went even lower with hiring Green. The fans are just used to being let down by this point.
If we were getting outshot 30-10 every game but some how we were 18-2 (don’t know how many games we’ve played exactly) would you say staios and green have done a good job?
Me en after that disastrous sharks game green still has us giving up some of the least high danger chances in the whole league (less than Winnipeg) and also one of the best expected Goals against. So….

So people that saying green hasnt done a good job.

I just wanna hear like 2 suggestions on fixing the glaring issue SO FAR on the backend. Which has been the goalies. How would they like green to fix it.

Last game I felt like Ullmark was playing at the top of the crease more and was bigger in the net when he goes down at the posts. Previous games I felt he was playing small on the posts (like Sogaard - how that's possible for someone of his size, I dunno), leaving a bunch of room high short side. Forsberg in his start was more aggressive, I felt, than Ullmark has been - might just have been nerves after sitting? Maybe Linus took something away from that?

1. More top of the crease
2. Bigger at, and infront of, the posts (not backed in so far)

Linus was great last game and if he was simply good for the first part of the season our record would be better.

Alfie didn't leave to win, he left because Melnyk/Dorion lowballed an offer once his contract ended. He had just played the last year of his contract for $1M because that contract had been front-loaded, he expected a decent offer ($4M+) for the next one. I think they offered somewhere in the $2M+ region so he left. Then he probably tried to find a team that would make the playoffs.

I think they offered somewhere in the $2M+ region so he left. Then he probably tried to find a team that would make the playoffs.

The specific issue with Alfredsson was that when he signed his contract he agreed to let them put in a fake year at 1M to lower his AAV. The idea was that with his physical condition he knew he would never play that fake year.

It turned out he was feeling well enough to play and he approached management/ownership about being compensated on his next deal if he chose to play. They allegedly agreed. So in theory what he wanted was an extra few million on the extension to compensate him for playing at 1M. So instead of 4M, he wanted something like 7M. Murray told him if he did it, they couldn't improve the team. Then when things broke down they apparently offered a blank cheque but it was already too late.

I also think that the Olympics may have played into it. If I recall, he was left off the original roster. Detroit was basically Team Sweden. So by going there, he would have a chance to play with some of the forwards he might line up with in the Olympics.
