IF #9 is the one on the block, then:

Josh Norris (7.95M x 6) + Jacob Bernard-Docker (800K x 1) to CBJ for David Jiricek (915K x 2) + Kevin Labanc (775K x 1)

- CBJ gets their impact forward, has loads of cap space to absorb Norris' contract and ships out their disgruntled prospect in the process.

Giroux -Stützle - Batherson
Tkachuk - Pinto - Gaudette
Perron - Greig - Labanc
Amadio - Ostapchuk - Gregor

Sanderson - Jiricek
Chabot - Jensen
Kleven - Hamonic

Ullmark
Forsberg
If Norris is worth almost nothing on the trade market, then I suppose a question to ask is why would the Jackets do this? Jiricek is disgruntled, so CBJ would accept scraps, and other teams would not offer much of anything for a good, cost controlled prospect? I guess that’s the theory, but it seems like a stretch of credulity. It could make more sense if they think Jiricek just isn’t that good maybe.

Sounds really great lmfao.
Guys is already back on pace for 30+ goals, 55% on the draw, and clearly is not concerned with his shoulder - playing physical not shying away.

Hope we get some shit players back who will
Slither out of our org in 2 or 3 year for nothing while not really providing cap relief or talent.

Norris is one of the guys in the core that we all know isn't the problem.

Idk unless it's Brady or Chabot i feel like they are just rearranging chairs.

A lot boils down to how Staois & company are defining the problem.

I’m not sure if trading any one player will have enough of an impact if the core just isn’t good enough to be more than just a mediocre team when everything finally aligns and they play to their maximum ability. If we say, like so many do, that a return from Norris would be paltry, then we can’t expect that to turn our fortunes around.

And would sending a message or giving the players a good kick in the pants produce big benefits over the long term? Not sure it would.

They really need to accurately diagnose the problem. That’s step one. A problem well defined is a problem half solved. Its amazing how many failed efforts there have been in the past because step one (defining the problem) turned out to a swing and a miss.
Definitely. I struggle with that. I don't really believe in the idea that they just need to be shocked awake as the solution with a core member disappearing. There needs to be solutions coming in also and my assumption to this point is that Norris won't bring that in given his injury history and salary.

Also worth pointing out that he's actually played decently this year given the expectations heading in, and certainly better than Pinto/Grieg that would be stepping into 2/3C spots, at least in the short term. The idea that we need to move off an existing 8 mil long term piece I get and can support, and that's where maybe a move like this isn't really made with today in mind, it's about tomorrow, but I also think that'll mean everyone will hate it if it happens.

Seems like Bruce already suggested Norris was on the block this weekend but it was missed.

He also says they were trying to trade him last year before he got hurt again. Or I guess there was “talk” about it.

It made way more sense and would have been much easier to get Karlsson a couple of years ago.

Idk about now. But someone with Karlssons swagger and experience on the team and backend would be nice.

I also believe in Norris, he plays the game the right way without being told.
Pittsburgh is on the wrong side of a championship.and are going to have to seriously start thinking of the future. I would love to get Karlsson back but getting rid of Norris would hurt us too much.

There were some whispers that the Sens and Blues were pretty deep on a Josh Norris/Brayden Schenn swap before his shoulder exploded again.

edmonton isn't touching that.

Both Drai and Ekholm are in another league compared to the players they are getting back.

Orange County Prison
Karlsson @ 5M+ROR to Ottawa (PIT Retains Half)
Norris+JBD+OTT 2027 2nd to Nashville
Schenn+VGK or TBL 1st from Nashville to Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh isn't moving Karlsson anywhere else, let alone getting picks and prospects for him.

Nashville effectively trades late 1st+ROR+Schenn (Negative value) for Norris+JBD+2027 2nd

Then Ottawa trades a late 1st and Schenn to Pittsburgh for Karlsson @ 5M.

There is going to be zero market for Karlsson based on what the market was like last time he was dealt after a Norris winning season. Getting a 1st for him, even a late one, is a miracle for the Penguins. Even if they have to retain and take Schenn's contract to facilitate it.

We're not getting Dobson for that. Don't want to discuss the Edmonton trade.

Josh Norris and JBD for Ryan O'Reilly and a defenseman.

3-way deal.

Schenn+Nashville 2nd to San Jose
Josh Norris+JBD to Nashville
Ryan O'Reilly+Cody Ceci to Ottawa
part 1 was fine

then you went and said part 2...**** no lol

either that 3 way deal where we get a good defenceman or remove JBD from the deal and see if we can get a winger with O'Reilly (Nyqvist maybe? we will probably have to add to Norris)

Where does this idea that Norris is untradeable come from? Is it strictly injury history? Cause there's nothing in his game that suggests he can't be traded for something of value. On pace for ~35 goals (T37 in the league in goals), defensively responsible, elite faceoff guy, top unit penalty killer...he's not racking up the assists but his most common linemates are struggling hard at even strength scoring (Giroux, Greig, Batherson).

Yeah, I think with the injury history you need at least one full season before alleviating the fear.

Maybe by the deadline teams will show interest again.
I’ve asked that question a couple of times in posts. When does that fear of reinjury disappear? I posed a year as well as a potential reasonable answer. But, there was no response to the post and other posts seemed to indicate that the fear would never go away.

Another question I’ve asked is if we aren’t going to get anything worthwhile in a trade, then how are we rebuilding (or significantly better) by trading Norris? Well, the answer is we regain the cap space. But, you still need to replace him, and cap space is not as valuable in a rebuild scenario as assets are.

Doesn’t appear to be a lot of tactical or strategic thinking going on. Maybe people are looking for that one move that will provide a quick fix for all issues?

Zub has been bad, and Sanderson has been bad. That pairing is certainly a reason for our play this season, IMO. Zub hasn't been good for a while, if we're being frank. This year, Sanderson has really struggled and Zub can't bail him out at all.

The problem we have is you can't really move Hamonic or JBD up, and Chabot finally looks good with a partner in Jensen and you don't want to mess that up.

So for 40 minutes a night, we're rolling out D-pairings that aren't playing well. You could live with having a young 3rd pairing if the top 4 was solid. But it's not.

If a deal was available, I'd move on from Pinto or Greig for a steady RD. Build from the D out.

A 2024 version of Foligno for Methot.
It's not so much a case of Zub being bad as it is that he’s been injured a lot.

Another good RD would be nice. I agree with that. That could be Yakemchuk, but I don’t know when Green thinks he’d be ready as a regular roster player. And, I don’t know if fans are patient enough to wait that long either.

Unfortunately, good RDs are not easy to find which complicates matters as well.

Update: There’s a salary cap, so maybe generate a spreadsheet, fill out a complete roster with salaries that includes retained salary, etc, and see if your ideas work. There was a thread here for that, but its probably been buried now.

I know, I just like to poke fun. No offense intended. I am somewhere between being agnostic and nihilistic.

Lol. -----

No, this is far less about believing or not believing, in as much as it is about fact and historical significance.

I am from a tribe; Banou Azd. They first surfaced in 200 CE. As in first documented. Their original area of living was South Western Saudi Arabia (It was not called that back then). The view is, Common religion back then was: idolism and other such religions... OR Judaism.

Moses supposedly took a route due south of the Sinai and back up to a city called Ezion-Geber (Modern day AQABA, Jordan). At the Southern most part of their journey, you are a 100 km boat ride, to where my tribe would have been.

1 ) At Ezion-Geber (Aqaba).. you are 1200 km from that area. So, say the Jews who fled with Moses, headed in all different directions!!!!

2) My family name has tremendous links to Ezion-Geber... But that may be accidental, or decided on later.

In 300-350 CE, a branch of us, converts to Christianity. Aligns itself with the Byzantine Empire and spreads Orthodox Christianity. This would have been around the time of Constantine the Great. The first Emperor to turn the Roman empire into the Holly roman empire. The Byzantine empire is simply the derivative of the Eastern Roman Empire.

And we migrate (the new branch of the tribe) north from Saudi/Yemen. Straight to Jordan.. Ergo Ezion-Geber.

4) the Azds that remained. Made up the population of Mecca and Madena. Making the Prophet Mohamed, likely one of us. Christians that remained, were successful and guided the Mohameedens. Theory has it that the Quran was written by Christians. Ergo the adaption of Abrahamic religions. Even the Archangel that visited Mohamed in the cave are Judo-Christian ones. (Archangel Gabriel)

5) we continue North and go through Nazareth, Bethlehem, Jerusalem Granted in the 500-1000 CE.

6) Some of us land in Sothern Lebanon.. This is the more Tricky association. A Maronite Priest (a sect of Catholicism, began in Lebanon in 350 CE) wrote a book theorizing that Christ was from Lebanon, not Nazareth/Bethlehem (modern day Israel). His theory is not universally accepted, but not debunked either.

He theorized that Qana. The city where Jesus attended a wedding and turned water into wine, is Qana Lebanon (the Lebanese have long believed that and Qana, Lebanon is deemed sacred. It is today in Huzbulalh hands and gets bombed regularly). Qana Lebanon is 25 minutes from my village.

My Village was also started by the crusaders in the 1100 time frame. And was home to a famous Crusader/Salah El Deen battle.

So, I have Moses, Christ, the Mohamed as direct connections. POSSIBLY.

I TRY VERY HARD to keep an open mind. And try very hard to walk a fine line on religion. Historically, it can be alarming to connect dots. Although, you do have to be careful that these dots are not connected incorrectly.

For any Serbs out there. Constantine the great was a Serb. Modern Christianity owes its existence to the Serbs.

Saint Paul was German. While born in modern day Turkey, everything about him suggests a German. And consider that the Romans battled the Germans, it is possible that his ancestors where brought over by the Romans.

there is the lesson on history and religion.
