Absurd to think this is a coaching issue. The team was playing dominant hockey and then fell off after that Philly game. It's clearly a mental issue, and there's nothing a coach can do about that.
The coaching job includes "motivating the players" and winning games. He is part of the problem, but not the major part. Goaltending has sucked again. The new guys added to the roster have not panned out overall (that's on Staios).

I feel like Green’s biggest fault so far is waiting to make adjustments. We’ve had virtually the same lineup over the 5 game losses stretch and little was done to switch things around when it was desperately needed.

Greig on the top line was a failure. Put him in a position where he won’t succeed and a position he’s never played.

The Pinto line was not working.

Giroux, Norris and Batherson line worked well for a few games and was non existent after that.

Now we find ourselves 3 games under .500 and no adjustments were made prior to now.

The motivation factor…. If you need your coach to motivate you 20 games into a season where you have aspirations of making the playoffs and after missing for 7 years straight I just don’t know that these players will ever make the playoffs. These players need to be motivated to do better but that comes internally. They need confidence more than motivation.

I don’t that’s fair.

We played well in Philly and lost because of Ullmark, so I can see why he didn’t switch the lines for Carolina. Again, we played a decent game. Edmonton no changes.

But Vegas he started the game with Tkachuk - Stützle - Bath. I think think they lasted a period so maybe he didn’t like what he saw. And last game he switched the lines so many times I couldn’t keep up. Now he’s switched them again ahead of tomorrow’s game.

It’s just that nothing really works. Not sure that’s Green’s fault.

Fair enough.

I guess I wanted to see some more drastic changes but it’s hard to do that coming in a new locker room while still retaining respect from your players.

I mean, Greig on the top line itself was an adjustment, he was playing with Norris and Batherson at the start of the season, moved to playing with Pinto and Amadio, then was tried with Brady and Stu, then with Norris and Brady.

I think he's best suited on the third line, I can agree that Green didn't react quick enough to Greig struggling in the top 6, but we've made adjustments along the way.

It’s also just hard because we have so many guys struggling. Giroux and Greig have mostly produced on the PP of late if I’m not mistaken, Perron, Pinto and Amadio aren’t producing at all.

They don’t produce no matter who they’re playing with really, at least so far. I will say he seems to have gotten a bit more creative for tomorrows game so let’s see if that works.

The game is on Amazon tomorrow. This is a first for the Sens. What are the broadcasts like? Do you know? If so, do tell. If not, why?

I’ve heard good things but it’ll be my first viewing so idk! Apparently they keep a replay up of the game there so it seems great… who wouldn’t want to watch the Sens lose twice?

:cbj
  • Sean Kuraly (2.5M F, UFA) (2.5M real money salary)
  • David Jiricek (918k x 2Y)
  • CBJ 2025 6th Round Pick
:sens
  • Shane Pinto (3.75M x 2Y) (2.5M real money salary)
  • JBD (Jacob Bernard-Docker) (810k, RFA)
  • OTT 2025 5th Round Pick
Kuraly is in there for real money reasons (CBJ) since his 2.5M offsets Pinto, but we would probably welcome adding another veteran to the bottom 6. He is a UFA after the season.

JBD/Kuraly are both throw ins essentially to balance out NHL depth+money.

Lmao sure thing.
Right?

It's definitely not the coach, he says, as a myriad of players are pacing for some of the worst seasons of their careers.
It's definitely not the coach, he says, as our special teams continue to be a mix of average to below average.
It's definitely not the coach, he says, as our 5v5 scoring is one of the worst in the league.
It's definitely not the coach, he says, as this team loses almost every single game where they give up the first goal and have the most losses in the league when trailing first.

What is the coach responsible for? LOL.

It's not always the coach's fault; I'm sick and tired of always blaming the coach. Perhaps it's the players? If you believe our poor performance is solely due to the coach, then you're missing the point. Our struggles stem from having players who are simply not up to par; coaching isn't the only factor that matters.

Hmmmmm. Lol
The intermission panel was Virk, Messier, and Bolden last game I watched and it was hilarious! Pretty sure Messier was completely lit, and Bolden didn't know who she was talking about - Virk corrected her several times. They didn't spend the segment tonguing the ass of MLSE, though. So far more entertaining than any Sportsnet or TSN panel (TSN gets a bit of a break since adding Methot to their panel, but balancing out a pudgy Jeff O'Neil is a tall order!).

Kreider is turning 34 this year and has a lot of hard hockey on his body. He also has a 15-team no trade list, so odds are as a Canadian team, he blocked us from a trade.

His remaining contract is not bad at 3 years 6.5M, but it seems like one of those scenarios where the Rangers are trying to pass the buck to a different team. There's a reason that they are willing to move on from a power forward who had almost 40 goals last year.

Zub is out for a while with a fracture foot…

You NEED to make a trade for a D.

This is where the season will be lost if you don’t find someone to fill that void, and thereafter sink with Hamonic + JBD playing extra minutes

Kreider could be interesting. Not sure what his contract looks like

If Trouba was willing to waive I'm sure Staios would've acquire him asap. He'd fit right onto our roster with the undisciplined play.

I hope no one helps the Rags in taking Kreider or anyone else on their roster. That team has to make major moves if they want to keep Shesterkin and may they have to sell low.

Did you read the string of posts that lead to my response? Who says it's only on the coach? The response is to the absurdity of saying the only reason we're not 9 games below .500 is because of Green. That's an unbelievably bad take and all of the points I made back that up.

The players bear responsibility in this mess but the GM bears most of the responsibility, as he hired the coach and shaped this year's roster with absolute duds.
