I don't intend to post about Tkachuk's future here after every loss, but it's something worth paying attention to.

Any player that spends the first 8 years of his career on a bottom feeder without seeing playoff hockey is a flight risk, and even more so for him given what I mentioned in my post.
Why hasn't Chabot asked out? Is he content with losing or does he want to win here andnis commited?

Amadio is a decent player and addition but this team needed (and needs) more speed, particularly if Perron was the other target.

I don't mind Amadio at 2.6M, even if he's struggled to produce out the gate. He's a fine 3rd liner.

Perron signing and dumping Joseph were the headscratchers for me. Paid a 3rd to spend an extra million and get slower and arguably worse.

Don't know how much of a market he has.

Hard to ask out if no other team wants you.

Players don't care about market. If they want out, they get out. Screw the return for the team.

only reason tkachuk is being talked about is because of his brother

the thing is though we dont have to trade him, 3 years after this there is no need to consider it until 2 years left if the team still looks horrible

teams rarely if ever get fair value for their stars

I get what you're saying. Adding Brady to the 1999 team instead of Havlat would have been perfect. This is different though. You're not adding Brady to a Martin team with Alfie as the Captain. You're trying to build around a kid during a shit storm. If he changes his play a bit to adjust, perfect. What if he doesn't want toor can't?
He's led the team in scoring 4 of the last five yrs & has led this team in numerous other categories. He's the best player on the team.

Not our best player.

Teams win without players like tkatchuk.

I have mused about trading him. But reality is probably won’t. Maybe shouldn’t.

But if you want to shake things up…. It’s him or batherson. I would trade batherson first. But
Trade Stutzle, he is terrible defensively & keeps giving the puck away.

my memory might be off but besides being vocal and signing an offer sheet at one point i dont think so, unless signing the offer sheet is what your getting at

and brothers act different all the time, plus something to factor in is brady has the C, we have seen players walk to other teams to try and become captain/be in a situation where they can become captain. I could be completely wrong but it seems like its a lot harder for players to make that move

Pretty sure Walt had his contract renegotiated twice too. Only time he had a playoff run was the first year in StL...and he was traded there that year. First round exit every year he played besides that year I think.

Not just his brother, his entire family. Can't imagine Big Walt is happy seeing one son waste his career on a bottom feeder small town Canadian team when his other son experienced massive success getting out of a similar situation.

Tkachuk is in year 7. His career is basically half over after this season. It's not as crazy as some imply for a divorce to happen, even though I'm not advocating for that specifically.

I thought Cousins was a good veteran addition, but he has had some absolute team killing penalties and decisions this year.
I like Cousins, he’s a nice add. But he doesn’t have to be an everyday guy.

Yeah I don’t mind Amadio he’s decent. A bit vanilla but decent. I just think the team clearly needs more speed.

I definitely think there's a market out there for Chabot.

He'd be an upgrade on several teams' #1 LD and has the cap space/assets to make a move. Anaheim, LA, MTL, SJS, St.Louis, Chicago, or Philly could all be dance partners, but I don't think management wants to move Chabot because of his improved play with Jensen.

He's not an upgrade over any of those teams' best defenseman.

Maybe a team would agree to take on his 8M x 4YR contract, but the 9.5M average salary would probably scare some budget teams away.

In any case, if he were to be traded the return would not be significant. Feel pretty confident about that.

On some of them (Anaheim, SJS, Chicago, and MTL) he'd be their best defender, and on other's their best LD or 2nd best defender overall.

Not that I think we'll get an amazing package, but hopefully lesser players with smaller caphits and that are a better fit for the roster.

MTL would love someone Francais, and iirc their D depth is right shot.

Guys, I messed up.

The Rangers board quoted my Lafreniere post and reported to their fanbase that the entire Sens board wants Lafreniere for Tkachuk. Now except for one guy who has assaulted me with paragraphs about why Lafreniere is better, they are trying to will it into existence.

As one of the assistant captains of this board, I have to take responsibility if come trade deadline Lafreniere is a Senators. I'm sorry that I let you guys down.

Little presumtious my friend. There is a long line of posters between yourself and any assistant captain positions!

Can we trade you to the rangers board instead of Tkachuk? :sarcasm:

Stutzle has not been giving many pucks away at all this season.

Not advocating trading Tkachuk. Stutzle has been probably the only real bright spot on roster this season though. Driving play, creating offense, and playing well in his own zone. Only issue I have is occasional overpassing.

No need to knock one player down to make another look better. Team has been underperforming as a whole. Identifying the worst offenders is tricky.
