Orange County Prison
if we are in/near a playoff spot around the trade deadline i dont see us making a crazy move (unless someone is available for dirt cheap)

Possibilities
a move for a RD that is on an expiring deal (with JBD probably being a piece sent in return)
3rd line winger to push amadio down to line 4

since we arent ever going to scratch hamonic, getting a a better forward for that third line might be the best move. Then said forward either works with Pinto or we shuffle it around and bring greig back to line 3

If we're in a playoff spot, we should make the biggest possible acquisition at the deadline. We haven't made the playoffs for almost a decade. We might not make them for another decade. We can't give up a 1st because we owe the league one already, and teams are less likely to allow us to protect a 1st for multiple years, but if we are firmly in a playoff spot every prospect or pick except for something stupid like Yakemchuk should be available to get us our Alexander Burrows.

not alex burrows haha

puckpedia has our projected cap space for the deadline at 4.6 million. We might actually be able to get more of a 2nd/3rd line guy

if we just look at bottom teams some targets are (not doing nashville or montreal)
taylor hall
mikael granlund (probably too expensive for us having a crazy season)
patrick kane (would be fun, probably has canada super blocked on his ntc)
jvr (probably the most realistic option)
brock mcginn/frank vatrano

taylor hall would be a nice full circle get and with the hawks scratching him might not cost too much. All the options above would end up adding more offense to the third line

Trade for Marcus Pettersson?

i think he is a LD otherwise i would be game

NJ: Tkachuk, Sogaard
Ott: Dawson Mercer, Anton Silayev, Leeni Hennamaino, 1st round 2026, 2 x 2nd round picks 2024

With the cap rising fitting tkahcuk in won’t be a problem.
Include Sogaard to get rid of the salary
Don’t resign Giroux

New leadership group

Stutzle - Captain
Pinto - A
Sanderson - A
Norris - A

Use the Tkachuk money to sign a 1st line LW

I actually think Chabot has been playing much better this year - but if you wanted to shake things up on defence, he’d be the obvious guy to move out. I say this partly because I’ve been impressed by Kleven this year and this he has second pairing potential in the future.
