Please explain me how he is a really good player. He is a glorified Chris Tierney that plays harder. His stats are inflated because he receives top-6 minutes and PP time on a really bad team.

I mean, we traded a comfortably better version in Connor Brown (better offensively and defensively, better skater) for a 2nd in 2024 just last off-season.

If we end up trading Brannstrom or a 1st to get him, it would cement Dorion's legacy even more and how hurtful his asset management is
It sounds like your opinion is already formed but here goes:

Laughton is a centre who can play LW. He brings an aggressive in you face style which this team desperately needs. Connor Brown is not a superior player on any level but let’s say they are a saw off.

Brown returned a 2nd with 1 year left who was determined to hit UFA and had a more expensive contract.

Laughton has a lower cap hit, 3 years as opposed to one and is capable of playing a premium position if one of our centres gets hurt.

No way I give up a 1st for him but Brannstrom, no problem whatsoever.

None, unless you count the co-op student making a mistake on the NHL website a few days ago
This is an amazing comment. With how injury proned Chychrun and Chabot have been they cant trade Brannstrom. They also cant trade Joseph because no one will take him without giving up an extra asset and that would be dumb. The sens basically have 4 million to work with to add some forward depth. Its ok to have guys like Joseph, Kubalik etc. They can play up and down the lineup. The sens have 5 stud forwards and a solid 3rd line center with upside in Pinto they dont need anymore big time guys that will be pissed off if they arent on the 1st PP.

Id trade Brannstrom for Laughton but I dont think philly considers that without a big add and the sens cant be burning assets. There are UFA's to be had for free that can play a third line role effectively. They can now get them because of the cap space given back in the Debrincat trade.

Would anyone have any interest in Josh Bailey on a 1 year, league minimum contract extension to play on the 3rd line with pinto? Obviously DJ connection and a vet who could provide some depth.

I haven’t watched him much lately and I know his numbers aren’t great, but I feel like he could fit here on a cheap contract

Exactly the type of depth they should be looking at. He didnt play in the playoffs for the Islanders so I dont know how much he has left in the tank.

Comtois, Gurianov, Toews, Tatar, Sundqvist, Boqvist, White, Statsny are also options that could be had for cheap on a 1 year deal.

I'd accept a Tatar Pinto Bailey line. 2 good vets to help Pintos continued development. Move Joseph

Who played goalie during that crash?
Who played goalie when we crashed and burned to start the year. Either way. Goaltending wasn’t great. But over the last two years I’ll take forsberg over korpisalo.

I know I shouldn't but I'm holding on to the hope of a Tarasenko signing
If we attach a second to Joseph and move him and attach a 1st to korpisalo and move him then we can afford tarasenko

I think you are barking up the wrong tree or at least wasting energy on any Korpisalo moves.

It makes sense to try to get rid of Joseph .. if we add better replacements.

I definitely do not want Tarasenko, at least not for anything more than a 1 yr deal (which I doubt he'd take).

We’ve tried to move Brannstrom for two years now and received no half decent offers.

It would be a situation where you are simply giving the player away for free. He’s worth more on the team than he is off as he doesn’t have a bad contract or anything.
Who's "we" ?

The Ottawa Senators or HF Sens?

3 posts earlier you said you would not take Bailey on the third line.
No interest in Bailey for me.
I'll expand on my one word "No" answer.

If he is THE Player we are adding NO. If he is added in conjunction with someone else like a Tatar and we can get rid of Joseph. I would accept that.

This ok with you?

You are going to have a busy day .

Tkachuk/Stutzle/Girooux
Kubalik/Norris/Tarasenko
Smejkal/Pinto/Batherson
Kelly/Kastalic/Joseph

It could compete

Definitely a nice looking forward group.

But I would prefer:

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Tarasenko
Kubalik - Norris - Giroux
Greig* - Pinto - Batherson
Smejkal - Kastelic - Joseph
MacEwen

*If Greig isn't ready, replace him with Joseph and add MacEwen to the 4th line

Kubalik plays on the right side. Gets that one timer off nice from the right.
