Proposal: Free agency edition Trade Rumours/Proposals - 2025/26 Part II

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I don't see the same upside in Eklund.

Also, in the hypothetical trade with Dallas, we would have gotten both Stankoven AND the two firsts, which we could have then used to get an Eklund. How is that not better?

No, we couldn't have.

The return that Carolina got was: Stankoven, 2026 1st (26 OA), 2028 1st (Top 10 protected), two 3rds.

We got: Eklund, 2026 1st (25 OA), 2029 1st (Top 10 protected), two prospects.

It's basically the identical return.

How could we have gotten an Eklund with the 26th overall pick when we couldn't get him with the 25th? Your not getting a player like him with a late 1st.

Hell, we should be thanking our lucky stars that Staios was able to get the equivalent return that Carolina got (although you could argue ours is better since Eklund is more established and has a higher pedigree than Stankoven did at the time of his trade), considering Rantanen is a much better player than Tkachuk and he was actually willing to go to multiple teams (reportedly had agreed to a trade an extension with Toronto).

I know you're on a "everything other teams do is awesome while everything Ottawa does sucks" train, but at least try a little harder to make a reasonable argument.

What are you on about lad

He’s saying you’ve never found a cloud with a silver lining. He’s saying you’ve never met a move you this team makes you couldn’t immediately hate.
He’s saying when life gives you lemons you seem to somehow grow an orchard of lemon trees.
He’s saying if you were dying of thirst in a desert and someone offered you water you’d complain it wasn’t carbonated.
Then he’s rolling all that together and saying that if something makes you so miserable and joyless why bother being involved with it.

Hope that helps.

….Anyways the Sens just got swept and the captain forced his way out to a divisional team.

Get Oliver from Columbus into this lineup so the team won’t get bullied.

Feel free to go stand in a corner piss your pants I guess.
Personally I can’t wait for the team to hit the ice in the fall, and excited to see Eklund gel with a team that absolutely has things moving in the right direction + whatever else we add.
Amazing structure, well coached, 8th in GF, top 5 defensively in the league and a guy who apparently everyone was sick of is playing elsewhere.
If we get anything remotely resembling playoff Ullmark we’re going to kick ass next year.

Good times!

If were dealing with what seems to be a CBJ retool then Voronkov is the guy we should be targeting. That's assuming Marchenko is unavailable or unattainable for us.

Look at what a change of scene did for Chinakov and Voronkov has higher upside and better tools. Teams that routinely underutilize players should be preyed upon and that is Columbus.

Carbonated water is gross.

It's also worse for your teeth.

Anyways the sens recorded one of their beast seasons in decades, one of the best teams offensively and defensively, among the elite teams in most metrics, and still made the playoffs despite historically bad goaltending. Lost to the Stanley Cup champions with 3 of their top 4 dmen injured, and an invincible captain that’s now playing somewhere else. They got a cost controlled young top 6 forward with 2 first rounders and a 2nd and 2 prospects despite him having a NMC and only waiving it to one team.

See you don’t need to be a miserable f*** all the time. Hope that helps.

No problemo lads. How you feel doesn’t concern me, this is a hockey forum idk why you’re telling me your feelings.

Is Staios done? Seems to be a soft team he is building while others in the east are getting stronger.

He had 57 points in 68 games in the 2024-2025 season. He was put in the dog house last season, but he seems like a good candidate for a comeback.

Didn't realize he was almost exclusively used as winger now. In that case yeah I guess we've got some space available.

How I feel:
Robertson, Knies and Marchenko would be amazing, but not going to happen.

Peterka would be pretty nice, but he’s soft.

Laf or McTavish are fine, depending on the price.

Debrusk or Boeser, underwhelming.

Travis Konecny is a name I’ve heard a few times, who I think would be great. Seems like Philly wouldn’t be a good trade partner though since they want a C (and I wouldn’t want to move Cozens or Pinto).
