Proposal: Free agency edition Trade Rumours/Proposals - 2025/26 Part II

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Seems like Yak is being thrown in a lot of proposals. We sure that’s a good idea. Still unsure about the kid. He could bust but he also could end up being one of the better offensive Dmen in the league.
I don’t want to give up on him at all because he has sky high potential. At the same time I don’t want to go into the season acting like he’s a sure thing to be a top 4 guy.

I agree I'm hesitant on trading Yak unless it's in a big package for a proven star signed long-term. I think he can be a very special player and has outstanding instincts for the game.

Honestly who cares about Zetterlund, I'd love to move him and free up 4.25m in cap, he's not a good fit for our top 6 and I think he's a waste in our bottom 6.

Who cares about his friendship with Eklund, it's the National Hockey League not the National Homie League

For me then being friends is more of a cool fun fact, but I do think it's probably helpful to the room to bring in a guy who is going to be super thrilled to be here right after you had to trade someone away who wanted to leave.

Have you been watching how the league works?

Actually thats fair and I do realize we right now probably have around 18m in cap and are probably not going to get Robertson. If we get McTavish for example then we'l have ~11m in cap which we can use to sign Ingram and Giroux comfortably.

Whatever happens with Spence is up in the air but I do realize now it's not an immediate necessity to dump Zetterlund's contract

Yes. Exactly the way loser franchises think, letting players run the show and bring their buddies in like Brady. Is there another fanbase that talks about players being buddies and best friends more than the Sens.

What would we use that money on? It’s not like we don’t have cap space. He’s not blocking anyone one in the lineup. He’s not a bad player. He just leaves you wanting more.

I'd agree if we were in a cap crunch, but I don't think cap space will be a limiting factor this offseason so I'm happy to have him provide depth as a quality bottom-6 W.

Players are the only ones who can tamper. We need more players to talk up this org and get buddies to want to come join, if having a tight knit set of friends is part of that then great. I think it’s also part of getting good character players here, chances are higher they get along and pull the same direction. But I doubt the gm is placing friendships above other factors when deciding to bring someone in.

Any Chance Clb does this:

Greig, 25oa, Hensler or Yak for Marchenko with an extension

Too much? Too little? Or am I crazy thinking Marchenko would extend here... Maybe he can be best buds with Zub?
Don’t think they get that much
