But you’ll go 7 with Copp, a guy who before a career year this season was a high 30 point player? A good player don’t get me wrong, but the length of this deal coupled with the fact that he’s probably not the 2C you win a Cup with would scare the **** out of me. You’re a 2C away. You better find the right one.
Not to mention Copp is not a historically “healthy” player

When did I say I would go 7 with Copp? Lol

My max for Copp has always been 5 x $5.5. Even then I want it at $5 AAV. But also Copp is 28 years old and already familiar with NY and the Org. Kadri is 32…

I think the Rangers see if they can make Kadri work now. I don’t think they will be the high bidder. They will be the top contender in the running for him though. If he wants to continue winning make they work something out

NHL insiders are so useless lol. One of the biggest stories going into free agency is Malkin and none of them have him re-signing, it just gets tweeted by the Pens official account.
They are tools of the business. They are used by teams and by agents and if fans havent figure that out yet then they are simply gullible. This is all about entertainment and clicks.

Lots of people are going to be very disappointed when they realize every agent and media plug in the NHL is floating the Rangers as a possible "destination" entirely for their own interests and not because it's accurate. Drury's probably been sitting at Colony Grill having pizza and beer all week just laughing at all the nonsense and waiting for Strome and Copp to come crawling back to daddy.

Credit Malkin’ s agent - he used the Rangers like Teams used us in the pre cap era .
Brutal days
Agreed, after all the leaks from inside Rangers HQ pointing to him being our guy I can't even begin to imagine how red-faced they all must be after this shambolic episode. Looking forward to Brooks correctly taking them all to task for it in an article!

Can I just wake up tomorrow to Kakko signing a 2 year 2-2.25 per year contract?
Pitt signed Rakell, Malkin and Letang. Was not expecting to sign every single one of Braun, Vatrano, Motte, Copp but would be nice to bring back one (team friendly deal).

I get angry at this team’s seeming inability to keep shit simple, stay patient, and let things grow, but then I remember that I’m here to be entertained. I am absolutely entertained by this.

Sign me up for all of the chaos.
Malkin on a 1 year deal is both chaos and not being married to chaos. I'm basically happy with any solution that doesn't mess with the kids or block their growth/progress paths.

Seems to me Drury has three options with variations:

1. Trade Chytil & Kakko+ for a longterm 2C now (eg JT Miller agreed to deal after this year - seems Vancouver gave teams permission to approach him for talks; PLD - trickier since only signed for 2 years, but might lead to option 3 if he's not a hit...)
2. Sign UFA longterm (Trochek, Kadri)
3. get a 2C stopgap like Malkin, then aim to get a C in one/two years through trade/UFA.

UFA centers 2023: ROR, JT Miller, Horvat
UFA centers 2024: Matthews, Lindholm, Aho

Will be interesting to see what Drury comes up with over the next few days.

e: scratch Malkin.

Rangers seen enough of Trocheck. I would not be shocked if he is a target for NYR. Would not mind this at all.

Speedy, aggressive, can PK & win faceoffs. Seems like he can do the things at center Panarin has meshed with well in the past. Also can finish better than Strome. Would be a sneaky great move if he can get him on a reasonable deal under the radar
