There is also the other end of the spectrum on twitter who act like there is no salary cap. They have idea how this shit works and these people are hosting podcasts. Why can't the Rangers sign this guy or that guy? They have no salary cap space.

They have 16 mil in cap space next year. Laf & Miller aren’t going anyway. The Chytil/Kakko/Kravtsov crew needs to play better before we start worrying about paying them long term.

Would be nice. Janmark is 2 years older but is a center, had better point production then Motte last season.

No insider information but it might make sense for Motte to sign a 2 year contract with a team like the Rangers then cash in when the cap shoots up in 2 year.

I dont think either of Cuylle or Othmann should be getting 4th line minutes. Cuylle should get top line minutes in the AHL and if Othmann can't win a spot on the 3rd line wing out of camp he should go back to the OHL.

Why Hajek - Gauthier , Carpenter over Motte & maybe even Vatrano?

It's ridiculous right? That's still the narrative with some even after a 52 goal season. Some people are just so quick to want to trade this guy. He had 10 goals and 16 points in 20 playoff games, some of them really important goals. He had 52 goals last year and is the best net front presence in the league. He's a physical beast, can skate, and is a leader on the team. There is no reason to believe that he can't continue his excellent PP scoring especially with the crackdown on cross checking. Those deflections don't happen by accident. He practices that stuff every day. His contract is a bargain right now when you look at the contracts that have been signed but lets trade the guy ASAP.

I said roster spot. I never said Motte's spot in the lineup.

isn't he a center or can play center? wouldn't that have been a better signing than Carpenter? Guy had some seasons where he put up 30 plus points. 29 years old. Maybe these guys don't wanna come to NY?

It kind of is. My biggest playoff critique of Kreider was how much less of a factor he was in front of the net in the post season but part of that is willingness to pay an even bigger price.

Less cap space to sign Carpenter, Kakko still up in the air as is, presumably, Motte. Gotta think something else is going to happen this summer.

750 k and played for Gallant
Caps tight so even that 500 k may add up
I question if they can even sign Motte for that

A reason why Reaves should of never been extended right away but easy to question it now
 
Janmark isn't what they want out of a 4th line C.

No physicality, doesn't take faceoffs, when he does he's awful. Not enough skill for top 6 work. He's a lot more of an Oscar Lindberg who is coincidentally out of the league.

Points are a terrible metric.

Listen I love kreider but it’s doubtful he continues the type of production we saw this past year. I’d love to be wrong but it’s just the truth.

Seems like a problem child to me. The guy has just hit 24 and is about to FORCE his way out of his 2nd organization already. Now maybe he really is that type of guy who wants to play for his favourite team in Quebec, but imagine if things go south there?

Winnipeg is going to hand him over for a penny on the dollar. I think PLD could go as far as letting the season begin if no trade happens before one. The thing is, Montreal needs to shed some cap first as well so...
