It was said days ago that if Malkin went back to Pittsburgh than Trochek loses a landing spot. Boston appears on the verge of signing Bergeron and Kreijci. 2 teams with aging cores.

Trochek makes a ton of sense. He’s tenacious on the puck. He adds a speed element the team needs down the middle. He plays a good 2-way game. He knows the coach.

I’d also throw out that William Karlsson rumors have been silent. Vegas needs to move money with their eventual re-signing of Smith. He’s on a contract that has a good term and cap hit on it. Perhaps Vegas takes Nemeth as part of the return to offset some of the salaries based on Karlsson’s down year

Also, Malkin at 4 years to Pittsburgh is fantastic for the Rangers. If nothing else, stoking the fires that Drury was lurking perhaps forced Hextall’s hand to add a year

Karlsson has been on a pretty consistent decline. Rangers should stay away.

Trocheck is a good fit as a player, but he's 29, how long will his new contract be? Zibanejad is 29. Goodrow is 29. Rangers need to add at least one center that is a while away from his 30s. Will Chytil still be here?

Something happened in The NHL yesterday. The Florida Panthers. They didn't place Patric Hornqvist on waivers yesterday for his buyout. I wonder why that didn't happen. I wonder why that didn't happen. Hmm. People around the league are asking themselves. What is Florida up to? They need to clear out space on their cap. Hmm.

I love Windhorst. Love his podcast.

The Rangers need to move Lundkivist in a trade this summer before his agent Claude Lemieux's loses his shit. They will not be happy starting the season in beautiful Hartford, Connecticut.
So we need to take Patrice also?

+ free agents without compensation decided to agree with the team that still held their right. There are few $$$ available on good teams due to the salary cap freeze. This is one of the worst years to test the market due to the lack of $$$

It will only get worse next summer.

Next year will be worse

Resign Motte 5 yrs for avg of 2-2.5 sign Trocheck and see if they can sign Kessell for a bargain price. Unload Nemeth plus a 3 round to Chicago or Arizona for a 7th rounder.

Ok, so Malkin back to Pitt. Krejci back to Bos. That’s 2 potential Trocheck landing spots gone. One being his hometown.

Grioux going to Ottawa. Brent Burns is going to Dallas.

TB could lose Palat today. Do they pivot to Copp?

I want to know what on earth Ryan Strome is thinking. He easily could have gotten a contract from the Rangers months ago. Which would have been a disaster for us. Now? Where’s he going? What garbage team is paying him 6 mil plus long term? I don’t hear him linked to anyone.

Copp is another one where’s he going? Who’s paying these guys? The exact type of players no one should ever touch in free agency.

Trocheck isn’t a sexy move but he brings a lot mainly speed which we lack, and gives Chytil more rope to be a top guy. If Chytil takes another step that Mika Chytil Trocheck trio adds a ton of speed down the middle.

Hey guys, it’s Weeksie here, coming to you from the Frontier on-flight restroom. I have breaking news: Chris Drury is working the phones with Chicago to reunite Patrick Kane with the Breadman on Broadway!

Trocheck isn’t going to be the 3C on this team. He’s a 2C. Rangers will not be paying him to be a 14-16 min a night center.

That’s not what I said is it? I said it gives Chytil more mins. More rope. Trocheck can play at 2C and in 2 years he could easily be the 3C. It’s not like bringing in an 8 mil 2C that’s locked in.

Where is the cap space coming from for TB, EDM, and NSH?
Edmonton just lost the Keith and Kassian money. smith with go on LTIR.

TB cleared money to keep Palat but he might leave for a massive deal in Seattle.

Laff-Chytil-Kakko
Blais-Trocheck-Kravtsov
Goodrow-Rydahl-Reaves/Hunt

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Jones/Lundkvist-Schneider

Copp I could see going to Detroit or Nashville.
