The idea of throwing away Smith for no reason is stupid, they better be getting actual value for him here.
What is his realistic value, though? Before today, I would say a 2nd or 3rd. Maybe the ludicrous contracts with term make him more valuable.

The Penguins should absolutely re-sign Pettersson if he's willing to sign for 5 years. You're not going to get a better return for Pettersson today than if you trade him in 5 years, you're looking at like 2 2nds regardless.

Yohe actually called the Gryz signing. His batting average would still be lowest on the Pirates.

If nothing else, he’s been consistently who he is since he got here. And honestly, what he brings becomes more palatable if we get a couple more physical defensemen.

It wasn't that tough to call. A Masshole, played for Quinn...thats like the easiest one to predict when GM Sully got his pen and paper ready today for his lover boy Quinn.

Hey how's it going didn't ur team trade assets for a 33 year old making $11m only to miss the playoffs?

The Caps are making these moves with the context that they actually have an incredibly strong forward prospect pool. They took some gambles sure but they did so while getting younger and while not giving up any important prospects or future picks

 Lol, yeah we did that last year and look where f*** we wound up. Its not really some "gotcha" moment. considering nobody here is still trying to defend that move, it was a pure gamble that was pretty much guaranteed to fail when we kept the same tired, hapless coaching staff around. Last summer, we didnt know Dubas was going to be sipping the Sullivan koolaid like every other brainwashed minion in this org.

You can take your july victory lap on another team's board in the knowledge that, despite your owner saying the goal is Gretzky's record, you're still making "competitive moves". Whatever the results. In contrast, our coach, ownership, GM, whoever actually runs this team, have clearly decided its more about keeping the band together. Maybe it will work out better for you than last summer's work did for us.

I'd actually call that a fair journey. 3rd for Smith made sense, it seemed like a good fit. Didn't work out for whatever reason, so you offload him for 2 and a 5 and clear some space. I'm fine with it.

Cool. Now see if Skinner wants to sign on for a year with a handshake deal in place to move him to a contender at the TDL, don't re-sign Petts and trade him at the TDL, and steel yourselves to let go of the beloved Bryan Rust one year from now.
