Banking on another compliance buyout with the new CBA I see.

The only way I'm celebrating this move is if it's followed by an announcement that Smith, Staal, and Shattenkirk decided to retire and start a restaurant together called "The Albatross S Brothers"

It wouldn’t shock me if the isles offered $13m per year. Not sure if $1m per year is a lot of money being left on the table, though.

So frustrating to really think the Rangers had changed. Also so stupid of me to ever believe a new GM would be able to restrain himself.

Panarin is a great player. But this is just a poorly timed move that could really **** us down the line.

Signing big FAs has never won us diddly. Nor other teams around the league.

Same old Rangers.
Signing a big FA to complement your team is fine. Signing big FAs to create your team is not.

He's not a $12 million player. This franchise can't help themselves. I hope it works out though.
He is what the free agent market dictates he is. Just like Anders Lee will be a $9M player and Bob will be a $10M player. The free agent market adjusts itself and the players' values every year. Doesn't mean WE had to give that to him, but that's what he is. Next year we'll marvel at what a bunch or other guys sign for.
